Pet-Deprived Occupational Therapist

Pet care experience

NOTE: I am double vaccinated and happy to provide you with proof. I’ll get boosters as they are available. In addition to spending 14 years of my life a dog owner and 20 years a pet owner, I have been professionally dog walking and dog-sitting for three years, and was employed by a dog walking/sitting company in Kitchener, Ontario, where I built strong relationships with customers through my reliability and genuine love for their pets. I have been a close supporter to many friends as they have acquired their first dogs, and have experience working with a variety of personalities and behaviours, from playful puppies, to older dogs. I’ve cared for animals with health conditions like Cushings, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, arthritis, anxiety, and allergies. I’d love the opportunity to snuggle with your pet and get active, especially during the long winter months when I know a morning walk can feel unmanageable. I have experience walking dogs of all sizes and use positive reinforcement techniques to ensure the walk is fun and safe for all involved. I also worked at a Pet Valu (Ontario pet store) for 8 years, so I am certified in pet nutrition and well versed in various training techniques, particularly R+. Pictures show some of my favourite satisfied customers! 😊

Victoria is simply the best. Reliable, trustworthy, communicative. I can tell my dog likes her and its obvious that she just loves dogs. Thank you so much Victoria for all the photo updates and for being there for my Jamun.

Victoria was amazing! She was organized, flexible, asked great questions, and came to meet the pups beforehand. During the walks she was sensitive to their needs as seniors of varying energy levels and shared amazing summaries and photos with us after. It was comforting reading the report card and seeing how happy they were in the photos, it put our minds at ease while we were away. She was also great with giving them their dinner and medication as well. Overall an incredible experience and we’re looking forward to working with her again!

Victoria was phenomenal with our dog Rufus! He’s very anxious around new people but she took extra time and efforts to make sure he was comfortable and happy. She is reliable, prompt and very kind!

I’m responsive by phone and send updates as regularly as clients would like. On walks, I am focused on your dog and never walk more than one client’s pets at a time. I use positive reinforcement techniques to keep your dog safe, happy, and attentive, and am a strong believer that mental stimulation is as important as physical. Your dog will have ample opportunities to sniff, explore, practice commands, etc.

Information Victoria G. would like to know about your pet

I love all dogs, big or small, and have no real breed preference, although I’ll admit I have a soft spot for bully breeds, shepherds, and other big sweethearts. I would appreciate being informed of any allergies, as well as rules for their walks (e.g. stopping at sidewalks, walking in heel, etc.) to make sure their experience is as close as possible to what it’s like when they’re with their family. I know from experience that training dogs is no small task, so I want to be helping you reach your goals. As well, please warn me if they are fearful of children, other dogs, wheelchairs, etc., so I can prepare both of us to stay safe and comfortable.

A typical day

I’m an avid fetch player who is looking for a furry jogging or walking buddy, to help us both stay active. I’m happy to play chase in your backyard if that’s preferred, or find nearby parks to ensure our walk has fun and function. For longer stays, I’m happy to use my car to take your dog on more outdoorsy excursions, as hiking is a favourite pastime of mine.

I live in Verdun and work as an OT from 7:30-3 M-F. When pet sitting, I am able to do 3 walks (6:30am, 3pm, +evening) but if your pet is unable to be alone for 8 hours, a daytime walker would be needed.
