Dogs make the world a better place.

Pet care experience

I'm an adventurous, outdoors-y and playful person, and until last summer, a proud owner of a border collie mix girl myself. I have also recently become a PADS volunteer and I hope to get a future service dog to raise soon. I have been told that I did a wonderful job with my girl, and people would often jokingly ask me how much do I charge for dog training. I had taught her new tricks at her 11th year of age, so I do not believe in "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" ;) I have also talked my neighbour and friend into adopting a dog, and helped (of course, with my girl) with socialising of a fearful/agressive female staffordshire that she fell in love with. The dog was adopted at 3.5 y.o. and she is now behaving like a puppy. It was a real joy seeing her becoming a new dog, feeling free enough to start developing her own character and little quirks. She is my second favourite dog in the world, and reason why I do not believe that fearful dogs are incorrigible. Oh, I have also given a CPR to another dog who jumped into the river (he loved to swim) but got a stroke and sunk - we saved his life (my then-boyfriend jumped after the dog into the river to fish him out), but unfortunately stroke did its part, and he had some balance problems later on in life, which I am still sad about.

Vesna took care of our dog and we had a great experience. She is a genuine animal lover and really knows how to handle every possible situation that comes up. She is responsible and dedicated to providing the best possible care for your dog. Thank you Vesna and all the best!

Vesna has looked after our cat in the past and she is definitely a pet-lover! She was always concerned about where my cat was and before leaving the house would always check to see where my cat was just to make sure she was ok. I completely trust Vesna with my cat because I know that she wants to make sure that my cat is not only fed and has water, but also that my cat had someone to play with!

Vesna was absolutely wonderful for our dog! Duke is a rescue dog and can be reactive but Vesna made him feel at home right away. We were out of town and got many wonderful pictures and videos. In addition he had a small medical procedure a few days before his stay and he needed antibiotics. It was all taken care of by Vesna allowing us to have a wonderful spring break.

Vesna is a caring, emphatic person who will do whatever it takes to help an animal and make it feel happy and safe. She's been rescuing stray dogs and finding them forever homes. She is experienced with dog-sitting. She is assertive when the dogs need it and affectionate as well. She pays attention to details and will be on a lookout for anything that might be out of ordinary and will react promptly. You can rest assure that Vesna will give your pet all the love, attention and care they need.

Information Vesna D. would like to know about your pet

I prefer well-behaved, house-broken dogs, because our landlady requires it. To be honest, I love mutts, but any breed is not an issue as long as they behave well. Also, I prefer knowing in advance if a dog has health or character issues, or pretty much anything that requires special attention, so that I can prepare accordingly. Reactive dogs might not be a good fit once I get a PADS puppy, but until then, they are welcome.

A typical day

I live downtown so Stanley Park is fairly near, as well as a walkway along the bay towards Sunset Beach. There's a dog beach near Burrard Bridge, and David Lam Park is very close. Once it gets warm enough, I also do runs and will be more than happy to have dog company while at it.
