Forest Paradise for your Furry Fam

Pet care experience

Our family include Marino (dad), Veronica (mom-myself), Galina (grandma), Dante (11-yr old son), Leila (7-yr-old daughter), and Freyja (2.5 yr old furry child). Galina always loves giving frry friends lots of love, and Dante and Leila love to help out in taking care of them, as well as giving them as much love and play as they'd like. My husband and I have grown up with dogs our whole lives, with 4-5 of them at a time always. I'm always amazed at how dogs a strongly attracted to and feel safe with my husband, even just after meeting him for the first time and even skiddish dogs. I also tend to be a strong attachment figure for dogs, especially when they experience moments of anxiety and novelty. Two years ago, we adopted our own Freyja, a supermutt rescue who loves having friends over to play with. We also foster for a local rescue organization and will sometimes have a foster in the house (see the pics for our most recent foster). This is also to say that we know how to help dogs work the emotional challenge of being in a new environment or being separated from an attachment figure. We decided to open our house to provide affordable sitting after struggling ourselves to find affordable sitting for Freyja on a recent long international trip. We hope to provide a home full of love, play, relaxation and joy for your furry lovelies as we know that being away from you can be an emotionally challenging experience for them. As for the specifics of our home - we have a large fenced-in yard that is a perfect space for exploration, play, and exercise. Freyja successfully teaches furry companions how to use the doggy door within hours of their arrival. There is always someone home with your furries and we can also walk them as often as needed. We are open and willing to stick to any rules you may have in your own home. While we welcome all to sleep in our bed with us, if you have a night-time crate rule at home, we would continue with that practice here, as well as any other rules/training practices you have at home. We also enjoy keeping them mentally stimulated with any tricks/training you do at home. *For those interested in longer stays, we do occasionally (every 6 weeks), take a 3-4 day trip in our camper van and would gladly bring your furry friend along. We always plan pet-friendly travel, involving dog-friendly beaches, forest hikes, etc.

I am at peace when Veronica and her family are caring for our big puppy. Veronica is naturally empathetic and caring, and tunes in to the needs and desires of our dog in a highly intuitive manner. Our dog rushes to Veronica to give her licks and snuggle up on her on each visit and we get strong vibes that our dog feels safe and comforted when spending time with Veronica and her family. A super extra bonus is that our dog has a blast and expels so much energy with Veronica's family dog; so we know that our pup will come home content and well exercised between playing with their dog and the walks/activities with Veronica. It it easy and super convenient once you find a caregiver that you know will be respectful of how you would like your fur family member treated and does it with so much genuine attention and care; we are glad to have Veronica in our community!

Veronica and her family fostered the rescue dog I adopted. Sadie, a small Blue Heeler, stared forlornly through my fence for an hour before she started to warm up to her new environment. It was obvious she was homesick for her foster family. I had to leave town in five days and asked Veronica if she could keep Sadie while I was gone. On the 5th day I had Sadie I left her with Veronica on the way to the airport. Sadie liked me but was overjoyed to see Veronica. My concern about leaving her dissolved—I knew she was attached to her foster family and my absence would not be missed. While I was gone Veronica sent me photos of Sadie frolicking with their dog and relaxing with the family. I think Veronica’s time with her has helped her adjust well to me and my home. Sadie is confident and affectionate because of the effort and attention she received from Veronica and her family.

We have a fully fenced-in large yard with plenty of room to run, play and explore. We have a large doggy door that is kept open during the day and closed at night. Freyja does a great job of helping your dog learn how to use it and, obviously, we'll open the sliding door if they don't feel comfortable. We allow your dog to sleep in our bed with us but also can keep their crate-trained if that is your practice. We can walk them as often as you walk them and will plan to keep them as close to the schedule and activities they are used to at home here.

We homeschool the kids, which involves taking them to their activities. However, there is always someone home to be with your furry fam. As mentioned, for those interested in longer stays, we do take a 3-4 day trip every 6 weeks or so in our campervan with room for your furry friend to join. All activities planned are dog-friendly, as we bring our girl, Freyja, along too. We would obviously discuss this with you when discussing the booking.
