Dog mom x3 with senior experience

Pet care experience

I have three furbabies and have been caring for my pups for over 10 years. All three are shelter pups. Two are old men and one is in his terrible twos. I have Oxy, the 11 year old Jack Russell x Chihuahua mix; Ziggy, the 11 year old Chow Chow x Shepherd mix; and lastly Cody, the 2 year old Dachshund x Chihuahua mix. Both our older men have separate issues. One is experiencing Doggy Dementia and the other has Arthritis. I have a lot of experience with both giving oral medication and the patience that comes with dealing with older dogs. They were both trained by myself and my husband and have wonderful recall. The puppy is in his terrible two stage and can sometimes be reactive on walks. He is still learning tricks, but knows all his commands. I'm lucky to have found Vedana on Rover. There were not a lot of dog-sitters available during Mother's Day. I could've taken Reyna with us but not a lot of restaurants allow dogs. Reyna was in great hands with Vedana, and I was treated by my family to a nice Mother's Day lunch. I highly recommend Vedana's services. We will definitely acquire her again in the future.

Vedana helps us look after our young cat Lenny when we go away for weekends or trips. She is always communicating, making sure to check in with us when she's on the way over, while she is with Lenny (sends us pics/vids), and when she leaves. Makes sure to refresh Lenny's water and food each day she visits and dedicates about 30mins or more to play or Lenny Time. Vedana has been Lenny's sitter since she was a baby kitten, and is now almost 2 years old. She has dogs of her own, and loves all animals!

Safety, trust & environment

In home care: Having the puppy has led us to puppy proofing the house within the last two years. We are very careful about leaving any items that any of the dogs may get into around and make sure that no human food or treats are ever accessible. We also mainly use pet friendly products around the house. In client's home: If instructions are provided I would follow those or ask at the beginning for instructions or preferences. I am very respectful of others and their property.

Information Vedana S. would like to know about your pet

Temperament is important - does your pup have stranger danger? My dashchund does not like strangers especially if you approach or bend down to him as most dog owners and people would to say hi. He is tiny but will growl out of fear. If you allow him to approach you he comes around way quicker. My chow-shep is very friendly but he needs to approach first and does not like quick movements immediately. If you go into say hello too quickly he will duck, dodge, and run out of the way. But if you let him approach you, you'll immediately have a new bff. Its important to me to understand your pup's personality and temperament to give them the appropriate attention they want.

A typical day

With my pups a typical day includes morning walk, breakfast and then a 10 minute play time outside to digest and a treat. I will normally do a mid day snack (small treat or jerk strip) and outside time for at least 30 minutes. They also go out periodically in between for potty breaks and stretches. In the afternoon I always do solo walks (so I end up doing three walks for my boys) so that each pup gets their alone time with me and enjoys some outside time away from their brothers. Dinner is usually around 5:30/6 and we make our own dog food fresh daily. After dinner they all get a dental treat. Throughout the day we also do play time and fetch, but it varies depending on weather and time of day.
