Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Vanessa. I am a loving, work from home mom with a passion for dogs. My husband is a dog trainer and together we have fostered 50 deserving rescue dogs to adoption over the last 7 years with Poor Paws Rescue. I have three years of experience as a veterinary technician. I have one year of handler experience working with Merlin’s KIDS, a nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for veterans and disabled children. I have a diverse background in animal care, a degree in animal science, and it has given me skills to handle skittish dogs and special needs medical cases (including diabetic pets and others that need medication). Although my husband is a trainer, training is not included in the stay, however evaluations for training may be arranged upon request. I also have two mixed breed dogs who are my babies. Your pet will be a part of the family with us- a home away from home.
Reviews
I was extremely nervous to leave my babies behind. Every bad scenario out there I thought of. As it turns out I had nothing to worry about. Vanessa was amazing with my babies. I could tell that she picked up on my anxiety and did everything possible to help me through it. I was blessed to find her. Will definitely use her again!!!!!
I travel the country for work and my pup always goes with me normally in a year's time I have four to six different sitters all over the country. And I have to have a sitter because my pup has diabetes and I work 12-hour shifts and he needs insulin every 12 hours. I've had dozens of sitters and I promise you none better than Vanessa. She had never given a dog insulin or dealt with a diabetic dog but she took on the challenge and not only did a better job than I could have ever asked she did it as good of a job as I would have done for him and if you knew me and Dylan you would know that's a lot. Rarely do I drop Dylan off and within a day or two is he excited to go to the sitter. If at all usually takes him a couple weeks to somebody but after the first time he was more than happy for Dad to drop him off
She is ok, kept is informed. Pick up and drop off was quite simple and easy.
Vanessa took good care of Coco. Would be happy to leave coco back with her any time. She was very accommodative to change the dates last moment due to change in travel plans.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a fully fenced in backyard, as well as extra crates and a warm couch. We have a gated off room that is puppy proof, so your pet will not have to be crated if it doesn’t suit them. Whatever your baby needs to be comfortable, I’m sure I have it. I can also arrange pick up or drop offs to your home for an additional fee, whatever is more convenient for you and your pup.

Information Vanessa R. would like to know about your pet
I’d need to know of any special needs, dietary restrictions, or triggers for your pet. Examples include other dogs, cats, or children. If your dog is not other dog friendly, not a problem, we have a large enough place to house them separate safely. I also have a 3 year old human child who is extremely gentle with animals of all sizes, including our dwarf hamster (see photos). It is okay if your pet does not like kids, as she has a good understanding of boundaries and we have a separate room for our dogs for safety. Meet and greets are available upon request and are held at a local public dog park, as recommended by Rover. If you are curious about my home, I am happy to host a video tour.
A typical day
We can take walks around town, go to the local park, or even visit the local dog park if you wish. If the social life isn’t for your pet, we can always spend one on one time together at home.
