Pet care experience
While some people are dog or cat people, I'd like to consider myself a pet person! I have raised and trained 2 cat s and 2 dogs, one of which was feral into late puppyhood. I believe that every animal has needs and wants specific to them, and that's why I take any recommendations and requests you make seriously! I can clean any mess that was made before my visits. I believe you should always respect the pets of the house when visiting. I believe firmly in positive enforcement, nurturing intelligence, and giving love and affection to your pet. I will make sure every visit, walk, and stay is as fun for them as possible!

Vanessa was great with our dogs and cat. Daily updates and pictures of them all definitely helped us feel better about going on vacation. She was super accommodating when our flight was cancelled and we had to reschedule it.
Vanessa did an excellent job with my two dogs. She’s friendly and definitely a pet lover. I’ll definitely be using her services again in the future. I highly recommend her. ????
I know Vanessa has had to deal with a lot of her own dogs that need special care after surgery and from old age. They all seem to like her and are cheery dogs. I'd trust her to pet sit for me.
Vanessa is such a kind soul and great with people and animals! She is an attentive & amazing dog mom - she has two pets of her own, and has grown up always having dogs around. I would absolutely recommend her as a dog sitter!

In my home, I speak to my pets about concerns and use positive reinforcement to help encourage good behavior. I also like to practice redirection when a pet is having a hard time decreasing destructive behavior. I make these practices my default for clients but also make sure to talk with my clients on practices, since they know their pets best!

I think it’s important to know the breed and any health conditions a dog might have. I’d also want to know any medications and the vet they go to before I care for a pet. I also like to ask about any triggers or ways a pet might express stress or fear and how they prefer to be comforted.
A typical day
During a check-in I like to play fetch it pups, talk with them and share the excitement of our time together in my tone. I just try to engage pets with the tools clients leave for me. During walks I like to adapt to what may be more comfortable for the dog. Some dogs prefer exploring where they can and others may feel more comfortable walking in their usual route, which I’d consult with the client on before planning a route. I’d also adapt the length and pace of the walk based on the dog’s size, breed, and muzzle shape.

Pet care is part of my self care. Pets allow for me to be mindful and present so I always enjoy walks, housesitting, and check-ins because pets are always able to be in the moment and that invites me to be as well!
