Ex-military, trustworthy pet lover!

Pet care experience

I grew up on a large farm. Besides enjoying our own animals, my vet grandfather taught me how to care for them medically as well!

This was our first time leaving our golden with Vanessa. She was great. Took very good care of our doggie. Vanessa sent a picture each day and was easy to communicate. We would choose her again enthusiastically.

Thank you Vanessa for watching our little one. It’s not always easy to leave our little guy behind, and it’s not easy to find a good sitter but Vanessa was the absolute best! Great communicator, constant contact with us during the stay. I highly recommend her services and we will be reaching out to her again. Thank you Vanessa!

5 stars! Vanessa was our first experience using Rover.com. We found Vanessa to be very commutative, friendly, reliable, and treated our German Shepard like she was her own dog. We received pictures through out the day of Zasha, our GSD, and Vanessa was able to administer Zasha’s medications with no issues. We have already booked Vanessa again for our next out of town trip and have no issues in recommending her to anyone else considering hiring Vanessa to look after your 4 legged family member.

Information Vanessa B. would like to know about your pet

When I was in the military, many of our military dogs were injured while were were in Iraq and there wasn’t a vet. My profession was a medic. I assisted the doctor during surgeries and took good care of our patients- the dogs. I took excellent care with administrating and oral meds injections, vitals, taking bloodwork and administering IVs, I have repeat clients I continue to administer oral & injectable medication too, several times/day. I do want to mention the below reasons I may not be able to sit your pet and kindly ask that you take a minute to review: 1. Dogs >1 years old who are not potty trained. 2 non-neutered males (flexible to accepting pets that are intact for an additional $15/per day fee in addition to applicable boarding rate. (Strictly at my discretion). 3. Excessive barkers (this is to not overly stress our other pet guests) 4. Purebred pit bulls. (Proof may be provided but remains sitter’s discretion). Sitter’s home owner’s insurance requires an additional cost to cover damages related to this breed specifically (I do not) and I have zero familiarity with the breed so it would not be in the pet’s best interest. 5. PICKUP AND DROP OFF TIMES I accept drop-offs between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM. However, dogs MUST be picked up by 2:00 PM on the day of leave. Any dog that is not picked up by 2:00 PM will be charged an extended care fee which is equal to 50% of the overnight rate. If pet is not picked up by 8:00 PM (not 8:05 or 8:15) I will politely ask you to come pick your pup up the following day. While I know that "life happens" and you occasionally may be unable to pick up your pup on time, I ask my clients to consider that not only do I have many other pickups and drop-offs to coordinate each day, but this is also my home and my personal life is impacted. I also ask that you arrive within an hour of the time we agreed on. Thank you all and I appreciate your understanding.

A typical day

Pets are never unsupervised. If socializing is going well we will place fetch or games for treats. If pet is small or has more social anxiety I will separate and sit with him/her to give belly rubs and ear scratches and gentle talk. Each pet gets equal attention and love especially belly rubs. I take pets on the large walking trail behind our home which leads to a huge popular park.
