In my 12 years of dog sitting, I've mostly stayed at dog owner's home so the dog is most comfortable. Almost all of my clients are close friends/repeat customers. I like to become acquainted with all of the small details so the dog is comfortable and the owners know they're being cared for in a way they'd prefer. I send picture/text updates frequently. If the dog is within 10 miles, I'll be able to walk him/her during my lunch break, as well as after work. I prefer to stay at the owner's home, but don't mind hosting the dog if it's small (under 15 lbs). I also don't mind taking the dog to parks/areas that they're familiar with to allow for optimal comfort while you're away.
