Professional, loving care!

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Valerie! I am triple-vaccinated, get tested regularly, and I can wear a mask for meet & greets. I am passionate about positive reinforcement and enrichment activities for our pets- they deserve our love and understanding. Any species, and any size welcome! I fell in love with dogs 15 years ago with my old foster pup, and I've been pet sitting since. I’ve learned there are doglike cats and catlike dogs- every breed deserves respect. Seven years ago I started Pet-sitting through Rover. I was able to quit my job as a family entertainer (see my profile pic!) to become a business owner, dog trainer, and pet fanatic! I am based in Atlanta, Georgia, and I love to travel to beautiful places. If you have a sitting request out of town, or need your dogs dropped off at the beach, drop me a line! I love ALL breeds, including dog-aggressive pups, but I do not typically accept pets who are very fearful or aggressive towards humans. I CAN refer you to amazing dog trainers who specialize in fear aggression. Once I have feedback from your behaviorist, we can move forward working together with your human-aggressive dog. I will carefully follow your instructions and send you cute pictures of your pet- probably in costumes! I am passionate about creating an experience of trust and security with my clients. That is why I am independently bonded & insured for every eventuality. I highly recommend you pick a sitter who is independently insured, outside of Rover's "guarantee." If you hire my business for pet sitting, you will also get a professional dog trainer! I have been dog training for the past seven years, with other established trainers, and on my own. I am well-versed in common issues like separation anxiety and reactivity. I am a positive dog trainer and I consider dog training to be about teaching dogs and people to understand each other better. I can teach pups how to walk nicely on a leash, come when called, enjoy crate training, and more! I am a member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, I am Fear-Free certified, and I am taking my CCPDT-KA exam in September. My dog training prices are discounted until I get my certification, only $95 per serssion. Vacation dog visits run from $90 a day. Sleepovers, aka house-sitting, start at $135 a night, depending on how much care you require. I have references, available upon request. Please note there is now a meet & greet fee for in-person meets ($30 for up to an hour). Virtual visits of up to 30 minutes are free! I always meet dogs for the first time with an owner present. Please take advantage of a free video or phone call before meeting! Thanks for reading! More about me: I am near-fluent in Spanish and French. I rehabilitate wildlife when it comes across my path, usually bees and lizards. I dream of a home full of Savannah and tabby cats, a hound mix named Beatrice and a Bernie-Doodle, as well as bunnies and lizards. Thanks for reading! Valerie, The "Pup-fessional"

Valerie took such good care of my two cats while I was gone. I got so many great photos and updates and my boys were very happy, she was even able to get my notoriously shy kitty out and playing. I normally worry about leaving my cats when I go on vacation, but this time I felt really confident and comfortable that they were being well taken care of. Will definitely be using her services again in the future.

My dog is always watched by my friend when I go out of town, but due to unforeseen circumstances they were unable to. I knew I did not want to board my dog, so I did some research and thought Rover would be a good option. As soon as Valerie can over to meet my dog Nellie, I felt my stress alleviate because I could tell she was in good hands. Valerie made the whole process very easy yet thorough, and I knew I would have nothing to worry about. I returned home to a happy dog which is exactly what I wanted. I will definitely utilize Valerie for any future trips I take and would recommend her to other pet owners in the area!

Valerie was very professional, easy to communicate with, and did a great job keeping our babies happy and safe. It was such a relief to not have to worry while we were out of town! We would definitely book with Val again.

Many of my clients are movers and shakers, CEOS and even celebrities- you can rely on my cheerful discretion. I am LGBT- friendly and accepting of all homes that love their pets! I have basic medical and cleaning supplies and plenty of health-related pet experience. I’ve dealt with doggy epilepsy, dog bites, and doggy diabetes. I was certified in Pet First Aid and CPR on 2/06/2022. I'm familiar with most behavioral issues, like shyness, aggression, escapism, and lunging on the leash. I provide a comforting, loving, and stimulating environment for pets! My policies on safety are outlined in my pet-sitter contract, which I can email you.

Information Valerie G. would like to know about your pet

What should I know about their health and behaviors? Are they door-darters? Where do they like to hide? How do you reinforce good behaviors? Do they turn into gremlins if I feed them after midnight?

A typical day

I love long walks with lots of sniffing! Sniff-faris are a wonderful way to tire out a dog. I have lots of fun games to play with. I love dog puzzles, they make pets work their brains! I especially like flirt poles, the bobs-a-lot, and classic kongs. Dog training is also a wonderful way to tire them out. There may be dress-up involved, and be assured there will be cuddling!
