Pet care experience
Hi. My dog's name is Neptune. He is an approx. 10 year old 30 lb. rescue who looks just like Sprocket from Fraggle Rock. I live in a fantastic doggy-friendly bungalow collective near Paramount Studios. It's a very secured accumulation of 5 bungalows and two above-garage apartments with a shared courtyard, BBQ area, garden, and long long walkway/doggy promenade. I am a college art professor and my studio is in the bungalow complex. I only teach one to two days a week. Aside from that, I work from home and am always with my dog. I have trained with Neptune in all levels of doggy obedience at Zoom Room (certified by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers). We have worked hard with them, trained, and learned a lot. Neptune has passed the Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) from The AKC (American Kennel Club) and has completed all therapy dog training classes, agility classes, and obedience classes. He also sometimes competes in local agility competitions. Neptune is a natural learner and I am really the student. I consider myself a seasoned dog owner. I've lived with dogs since I was born. I am now someone who can train and look after almost any dog. Neptune and I have been fostering rescue dogs through Jimmy's Angels/Bark n' Bitches for 7 years. Jimmy's Angels is an independent, no-kill, humane dog rescue in the Fairfax area of LA. They have saved well over a thousand dogs and have gained the attention of celebrities and Cesar Millan. After fostering over 40 dogs, some for weeks at a time, Neptune and I are experts at welcoming new doggies into our home. There are four super nice small dogs in the bungalow complex and they really run the place. They are free to run around outside all day and play together. They are a very welcoming pack and have always embraced our foster dogs. Your dog will be at home. I love to spoil my dog and any dog that comes into the pack. I make organic home-made dog treats every other week. I take my dog to the park at least twice a week. We love Runyon Canyon, and walking around dog-friendly Larchmont Village. I am interested in being part of Rover because, to be honest, I need to make extra money and I simply love taking care of dogs. I'm still going to foster dogs when I'm not looking after Rover dogs. Neptune and I would be more than happy to welcome your furry best friend into our home. About this sitter: I'm a college art professor. I teach Illustration, Graphic Design, and Critical Theory. I only have to travel for work one or two days a week. My studio is where I live. Between me and my friend Shaun, who lives next door to me, our dog is never ever alone for more than five or six hours - and that's irregular. Usually, he's only alone for about one or two hours a day. I grew up around dogs. I was born into a family with 3 adorable but finicky Pickenese. When the oldest of them passed my parents adopted Magic, a Bearded Collie. Magic lived up to her name. She was our nanny and best friend. Up until early adolescence she would walk us to our friends' houses in the neighborhood, wait patiently outside until we were done playing, and then walk us home. I have always thought of dogs as a vital part of a balanced life. Meet my pets My dog and best friend Neptune is a 10ish year-old, 30 lb, rescue dog. He rescued me and my ex (and still good friend) Shaun many years ago when we met him at Bark N' Bitches on Fairfax in Los Angeles. Neptune is truly the greatest thing in my life. He's super smart, funny, and very kind. It's in his nature to look after other living things. Whenever he is in a room and two people are arguing he will immediately jump on each of their laps and very very gently nibble on their noses, going from person to person until the situation is diffused. He's also like this with any other dog who is introduced into our complex. If he hears another dog bark in the complex he will insist on being let out just to check on them. We foster dogs almost every week and he is always welcoming and actually concerned if they are sick, disabled, or generally mopey. He will love your pet and welcome them into the pack. There are other dogs in the complex. There's Mr Darcy, a spunky rat terrier, and his best friend Watson, a Peikenese mix. Neptune and his two friends are extremely welcoming to our guest's dogs and always want to play in our enclosed the courtyard and garden. There's also Miso, a teeny-tiny Japanese Chin. Neptune is in love with her and she knows it! She keeps to herself but when her mommy lets her out she drives Neptune up the wall with happiness. There are also two small Chihuahuas in the complex. Their names are Tick and Tock. They are real indoor-types and don't run with the pack. They are very nice but your dog probably will not meet them. Our home has been a very dog-friendly complex for years. Myself and my ex (but still very very good friend) Shaun have been living here for over 6 years. We are good friends with the landlord and he simply adores dogs and loves it when we have K9 visitors. He believes in our foster efforts and will welcome your dog here as well.
