I am an animal lover with a master's degree and I have a very good friend who is a top tier dog trainer here in Sacramento. She has taught me a tremendous amount about dog psychology and while I can't promise any free training, I do bring with me a greater than average understanding of dog behavior. For instance, I know that dog fights happen all the time, and that some breeds are much more aggressive than others. A simple rule to live by is to just not socialize a dog in an "unsanctioned" situation, but instead create social times with a known dog who is friendly that can provide a positive experience. My dog trainer friend actually recommended I pursue this since I now live in midtown in a good central location and can make a few extra bucks on the side.
