I was going to school to be a vet when one of my friends mom asked me to watch their dog. I was ecstatic to do so and from then on out I watched their dogs (yes they got more as the years went on) for about 5 years. From then, I was asked to watch other families pets, including horses on occasion. I also work at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and I have professional experience as an animal caregiver as well. I can take time to train a puppy if needed but I can also give out medications to a dog/cat if there are medical needs or for an emergency. One of the dog I was taking care of at the time had gotten stung by bees and I was able to eliminate swelling and pain without going to the vet, and I’ve also cared for elderly dogs in their final days. I’ve rehabilitated a baby squirrel until it was old enough to make the transition to life on its own. I had the surprising joy of helping a female cat give birth to 3 kittens and monitored their health for the first days to ensure they survived the crucial hours after birth.
