Owner away? I walk, sit and stay.

Pet care experience

From small breed to large breed dogs, former feral cats, timid rescues or fancy cats I've raised them, growing up on acreage we constantly had pets dumped at the end of our driveway and my family made a point of getting rescuers who needed that happier life. From seniors, chronic health conditions, or with disabilities, even some not so normal pets I've done it all. I just finished getting my obedience and puppy training certification from the Canadian professional dog trainer association. I'm working on starting a vet assistant program in the spring and have started some pre course work. I've done volunteer work with SPCA and private animal rescues helping recover and rescue pets who have run away, disappeared during car accidents or got left in unfortunate situations. In my personal backpack I'm always carrying spare poop bags, leashes, collar, harness and disposable pet boots. I haven't left the house in the last 7 years without treats and poop bags in my pockets and I'm always picking up random piles that other pet parents fail to collect during their walks. I'm trained in medicine administration for oral and injection. If your pet isn't a free range eater I'll sit with them when eating and follow your instructions to the T to how they take there food. I'm also trained in swift water and ice/cold water rescue techniques and I've thrown myself into lakes and rivers to rescue people's dogs that have gotten away from them during walks. My passion for animals goes beyond owning them and nothing makes me happier then seeing a happy pet. I've been told by a number of people I'm the dog whisperer or snow white with how I've managed to get pets that friends have never seen (cats) or who hate everyone calm down and be my best friend. If you have any questions, concerns feel free to send me any thing you need clarification on. Dogs I've owned - Dachshunds (wired hair and short hair), Irish Wolfhounds, Great Mountain Pyrenees, Italian Spinone (hound), Siberian husky, Tahitian Spaniel, Double Doodle, German Shepherd and a number of senior dogs who just needed that last bit of company before their passing Cats - Maine coon Bengal cross, Asian leopard Bengal, Calico, Sphinx, Norwegian Forest, Bombay short hair. I've also owned and maintained salt and fresh water aquariums (25 gallon fresh water, 40 gallon Salt water) and terrariums for Salamanders and Red Toed Tree Frogs Before moving to to Alberta I was running my own dog walking, pet sitting, drop in visits and yard scooping service in BC. I'm aiming to restart after I've finished my vet assistant course.

After our 1st sitter cancelled on us so close to our 3 week trip, we scrambled to find full time care for our rescue who was barely left alone since adoption. We were so fortunate to find Tomas and his wonderful family. They not only treated our Pochi like their own, but gave my him his own amazing vacation as well. He had plenty of exercise as he had multiple walks a day plus playtime with Tomas' 2 dogs in Tomas' large yard. I got many photos sent to me at tagged locations of their daily hikes. Pochi is a fearful dog but with the help of Tomas' dogs and his cat he seemed to build his confidence. Much appreciated and such a relief hearing how he adapted so well with a different family. I will definitely be reaching out to Tomas again in the future when I'm in need of a sitter. Thanks again Tomas!

Tom is amazing! Was fantastic with my dog. With me being part time working from home with a varied schedule hes been able to work with me to help out on those tricky days. Always great to talk to too.

Tom is an amazing pet sitter! You can really tell that he loves animals and takes care of each one like they are his family. Animals are drawn to him and love spending time with him just as much as he loves spending time with them! He is super compassionate and understanding, and always tries to make something work if he's unavailable. Very reliable, loving, and fun. My dogs are always tired after visiting, they just sleep and sleep! You can't go wrong by picking Tom!

Between my two friendly dogs, the cats who think there dogs. My wife and myself there is never a moment when your pet won't be treated as family. Even if it's at your house I'll treat your dog like it's my own and spend every moment it's awake having some sort of adventure or play time. I'm always up for puppy cuddles or just laying in the grass watching the world go by. I'll leave your house spotless making you wonder if I was even there with, you'll come home to a clean house, and happy pets. If you want me to stay till you get home or leave shortly before you get in the door, my goal is to provide the best experience and blow your expections out of the water.

Information Tom S. would like to know about your pet

Special diet needs, amount of and length of walks, if they need a crate or dog pet or aren't allowed on furniture. Do they free eat or have set feeding times. Let me know what your pets needs are and I'll follow them to the T, setting alarms, leaving myself pop up memos for their care, nothing will get missed

A typical day

I'm new to the area so I'd like to explore and adventure as much as possible. I'm a firm believer in enrichment toys (treat balls, puzzle roll ups, sniff outs) as they tire the dogs brain out by making them problem solve. I love walks or if your dog is comfortable for a run along with a bicycle I'll happily take them for a faster paced and longer distance run, I do have the seat post attachment for a leash and small pet carrier backpack with window so everyone can enjoy an adventure.
