Pet care experience
I have always had dogs and cats in my life. I have consistently volunteered at local animal shelters and rescues, including Westside German Shepherd Rescue, giving me experience handling very large dogs, and having to have an immediate trusting relationship with dogs I do not know. I have also fostered over 20 kittens, caring for them from when they are weaned off their mother to when they are able to find a forever home.

Tom has been so great when caring for my dog. Two months ago I was on vacation for a week and Tom updated me daily about my baby without me having to ask! He sent me daily pictures and is very quick to respond to any of my messages! Thank you Tom!!!
Tom has a natural, effortless way of making connections with pets of all shapes and sizes, and he has a special gift with dogs. He has a calming presence, but he knows how to have fun. He loves to walk dogs, but knows lots of other ways to engage with them and make them happy. I highly recommend Tom.

I have extensive experience walking dogs for shelters, including walking many large breed dogs who need leash work. I am skilled at developing leash skills for dogs of all types. There is no dog who’s energy or size will be too much for me to handle, I love the challenge and the reward of seeing progress! I am also very clean and reliable and can handle the pet’s various in-home needs.

It is important to know and understand a dog’s special needs and general temperament. Diet and typical exercise needs are incredibly important too! Know how a dog acts around other people and unfamiliar dogs helps in knowing the best way to treat them on walks/play time.
A typical day
I love walking dogs and helping make the dogs better to walk on the leash. I have experience teaching these skills to large German shepherd and shepherd mix dogs, as well as shelter dogs with pent up energy. If possible, fetch is a great outlet to expend extra energy!

Availability
I am able to work remotely, and have a very flexible schedule, allowing me to make trips to care for the animals as needed. My nights and weekends are also wide open, and I would love to be able to consistently spend time with animals during these times.
