When Courtney and I moved to Grand Rapids for law school, we had our two furry babies in tow. They traveled everywhere with us. But when we decided to go to Kansas City via railroad for the holidays, we had to find somewhere for the dogs to stay while we were gone. We checked them in to a chain dog hotel. When we toured the facilities, we decided that because Guster (especially) was super sensitive, we needed to pay extra to get them a suite with a tv. I remember telling the employee that the dogs liked to fall asleep to Frasier or Golden Girls. After she looked at me like I was crazy, I followed up with "they like king of the hill, too". We knew that they were in good hands, but we still worried about them being somewhere that made them uncomfortable. When we lived in Denver, we discovered an awesome pet person through rover.com. We knew when we dropped them off that it would be more like home for them. We received pictures to prove they were ok. When we moved to Florida to finish law school, we had a newborn and our two dogs with us. Courtney decided to stay at home with our son while I was in school. Needless to say, we decided to find an extra source of income, so we invited dogs in to our home. We hosted a lot of great animals, so we decided to continue when we moved back to Colorado. Courtney and I both work for home, so one of us is usually always here. When we venture out to run errands, we usually take the dogs with us...except for the summer months when they have to stay back home in the AC listening to the Today Show or whatever is on BRAVO. Our backyard is full of bunnies and squirrels and robins, so its an active dog's dream. Our couch is full of love and softness and AC, so thats a lazy dog's dream. Because I have a three year old, who is good and gentle with animals, and an 8 month old, We have to insist that the dogs that stay with us are well behaved and good with kids... if they ignore the kids, thats cool too.
