Specialist caregiver at Guide Dogs

Pet care experience

I bring a lot of professional experience to the table thanks to my day job at one of America's leading canine non-profits - Guide Dogs for the Blind. I provide specialized medical care to vulnerable puppies in our neonatal kennel, from their very first breath through the next 8-weeks of life. Providing social enrichment (walks, playtime) and medical care to adult dogs is another side of this rewarding career. I'm very comfortable with any medical/healthcare needs your dog may have (e.g. giving medication or sub-cutaneous injections, administering fluids, grooming or dental care etc.), and I would bring a watchful eye to every interaction we have to make sure he/she is in good health. Outside of this, I've spent time volunteering at a local senior dog sanctuary, providing walks, comfort, socialization and basic care to older (but no less delightful) pups. I grew up with a cat, and so I'm comfortable dropping in to visit your feline friend for playtime, feeding and administering oral medication. Fun bonus facts: In a previous life, I spent many years working in marketing and public relations. I'm originally from Ireland and speak fluent Gaelic. The career moment I'm most proud of so far is having delivered dozens upon dozens of puppies! I love animals, and can't wait to meet yours.

Tom was awesome! I was late getting home and he was so nice. He even walked Gunnar a little longer. Provided great photos as well! Tom is very kind. Great experience!

Tom is thorough, compassionate, and very communicative. I had no concerns about leaving my dog in his care. Would definitely recommend him to my friends.

We enjoyed having Tom’s help so much! We met previously to make sure my boy was a good match and it definitely was! I enjoyed the wonderful pictures and videos, that he send me to keep updated. My 5 months old big puppy had so much fun on his walk/park/interaction time with Tom.

Tom is a phenomenal pet sitter. While my husband and I were away for a week, he watched our 30 lb dog, Sandy. We were nervous to leave our beloved pet with a sitter, but Tom really placed our minds at ease. He followed our every wish and request to provide him with two walks a day, feed him twice a day, brush him twice throughout the week (he has long fur) and provide him some cuddles. Tom really went above and beyond and spent more time with him than we expected. Sandy was returned to us with a smile on his face. He really seemed to receive the love and care we were hoping for. During our next trip I will not hesitate to hire Tom again, and in fact, would have an extreme peace of mind knowing that our dog is in such good hands! Thanks Tom for your wonderful service. FIVE STARS!!!

Information Tom M. would like to know about your pet

What is your dog's favorite activity? How does he/she react to dogs, cats, kids, and bicycles? Does he/she have any medical conditions?

A typical day

Your dog can expect a safe, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable walk or visit. This will usually be in your local area. I'm also happy to up the pace and run with your dog, or to go on a longer hike to a suitable trail. I'm a gentle handler who will ensure your pooch relishes repeat walks. I'll be sending you updates, pictures and videos from each of our adventures. If I'm visiting your dog (or cat!) at home, just let me know his/her favorite games and routines, so playtime can be as magical as possible!
