Experienced Harpenden Pet Sitter
Pet care experience
I grew up around cats and a dog and we always had at least two pets in the family house. Over those 18 years I became familiar with various different breeds and different personalities. At university I realised how different life was without pets around, became more interested and involved in animal welfare and eventually studied the subject, eventually submitting my dissertation on animal ethics. Animals, to me, deserve treatment just as kind and respectful as we would give to other people. I started pet-sitting for friends in 2022, who then recommended me to other friends, and the rest is history. I recently moved from SE London to Harpenden and while I can’t currently accommodate pets in my flat, I’m happy to come to your place to stop in on your pet, stay over if required, play, clean up after them, feed and water them and generally make sure they’re ok while you’re away! At the moment I have limited experience administering any kinds of medicine, so if your pet needs this during their stay, a thorough demonstration would be ideal. I work full-time from home, so if I am staying in your home I’d appreciate internet access. It is a desk job, so I will always be present and never leave for more than two hours at a time (and if I do need to for any reason, I will communicate this to you). I am very much a homebody, but I allow the pets to tell me how much space they want. If they want time alone, I let them rest. If they want attention, they have it!
Reviews
Great kind catsitter. Alf did not want to come home!
Tim was a great host to my cat Nipper. Tim was upfront with any and all problems Nipper seemed to be having, food or bathroom wise and did a lot to accommodate. I appreciated that a lot from them. Pictures were provided, and I always felt reassured and happy throughout the week that I was away. If I need someone in the future, you can definitely bet on me going to Tim first!
Timothy was superb with my kitten Saturn; made her feel welcomed and loved whilst I was away! Will definitely be using him again ☺️
Tim has looked after two pets for me over the last few years: my cat, Al and my rabbit, Cloud. Both times he has been incredibly accommodating, whether they have needed a special diet or medication. I felt totally comfortable leaving them with him and he maintained contact throughout the period sending me photos and updates of their wellbeing. I would without doubt, reccommend Tim for pet sitting, knowing that he would give them a comfortable, safe and caring home.

I make sure the pets get adequate playtime, adequate rest and I like to think I’m pretty attuned to ‘pet language’ now - I’m good at figuring out when they’re hungry, playful or just need a good sleep. I give a few treats occasionally (if provided) after good exercise (or sometimes if they’re really hungry between meals!) Also, as many cuddles as they want, whenever they want.

Information Timothy D. would like to know about your pet
Before drop-off I’d appreciate knowing about any medical needs, any behavioural issues and generally any idiosyncrasies that your pet may have. I’m pretty good at adapting, but clarity is more important than anything.
A typical day
In a typical day I will work, spend time with the pet, clean their litter tray (if a cat) and generally try to accommodate all the pet’s needs. If the pet is ‘zoomy’, I’ll help them exercise. If they’re sleepy, I’ll leave them to it. It’s generally a matter of recognising what they want and how to manage it, and I like to think that’s my strength.

I work full-time and flexibly from home, so pet-sitting works well around my usual schedule. When the pets need attention, they get it, and when they rest, I work!
