Dog's Best Friend

Pet care experience

Hello! I have sat dozens of dogs on Rover over the last few years, and I really looking forward to meeting your dog who is: --more than 2 years of age and fully settling in to adulthood, --good on the leash (does not pull), and --well-behaved in the house (no chewing, accidents, counter surfing, dumpster diving or major anxiety). If that describes your pup (or your pack), let's find a time to meet! I've been around dogs my entire life, from the family dogs we had growing up, to the many gigs I have had as a neighborhood pet sitter. Over the last couple years, I've become super good buddies with Mac who lives down the street from me. (He's the black hound in my photos). When his owner has been on vacation, I've acted as his primary guardian. We've taken hikes in Shenandoah and Rock Creek Park, spent countless hours at Congressional Cemetery, and walked hundred of miles through DC together. I've administered flea/tick medicine and given him pills. And I've wrestled chicken bones and countless other unidentifiable victuals from his maw. I work from home most days, but occasionally have to go to meetings or be out of the house--sometimes for a full work day (8 hours). So, your dog will need to be able to be in the house on his/her own. I really like to be outdoors, and if your dog likes to walk, I'll make sure s/he gets exercise. I also have a pickup truck, which might present opportunities for weekend hikes or dropping your pup off for you at your house (see rates). Looking forward to meeting you and your dog! Why I love dog sitting I've been around dogs my entire life. Growing up, I had a pug-mix, then a West Highland White Terrier, then a Jack Russell Terrier. As an adult, I've found myself mostly taking care of pitbull mixes, including the black hound you see in my photos. Meet my pets I have no pets in the house, so your animal will have the run of the roost. About my yard My front yard is fenced but extremely small; your pup probably won't be hanging out there, but it is an option. My experience administering medication Yes. I have a lot of experience tricking dogs into eating pills (usually concealed in treats) and also pushing large pills into the back of the throat. That's the extent of my medication experience, but I'm open to other reasonable medication administration.

Tim was great and Diamond love him! We was flexible with setting up the meet and greet & also with the drop-off/pick up times. The pics he sent definitely showed how diamond was having a great time. I'll be reaching out to him in the future for when we need a dog sitter again!

Tim was amazing!!! He took great care of Rogue and always sent of pictures of her. He took her out to different places each day and always kept her active. He was very detailed in all details of her stay. He has a nice place and really close to alot of locations to play with Rogue! He was very friendly and welcoming with our pup. I would definitely recommend Tim for future stays!!

Tim was very conscientious about having all the right information about my pup before the stay, and also took her for a playdate with another dog (after getting permission to do so first). Would definitely use again.

Information Tim S. would like to know about your pet

The most important thing to know is how I can best keep your dog comfortable and happy. If your dog isn't happy, it will be stressful for everyone, so let's talk about what I can do. Other things I should know is if your dog is 100% house-trained. Is your dog leash-aggressive and how is s/he around other animals? We should also iron out a good idea of an exact schedule ahead of time. The prices for overnight boarding is for a 24-hour period. If you need additional daycare, I usually add a pro-rata cost.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks A favorite destination of mine is Kingman Island, a little known island about 3/4 of a mile from my house. It's been converted to a recreational area with a total of 4 miles of grounds to walk (counting the doubling back). If your dog likes dog parks (and if you give me explicit instructions to do so), we can go to Kingman dog park at 14th and D St NE, which is .5 miles away. Lincoln Park is about one mile away. The arboretum is another great destination, though at 1.5 miles away, your dog would need to be up for a serious outing (3 miles roundtrip just to get to the entrance + whatever mileage we log at the arboretum). A just as likely scenario is strolling through neighborhood, exploring Capital Hill one block at a time. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog can sleep wherever you would like. If s/he has his/her own bed or a crate, we can discuss where the best location is in the house. If s/he wants to sleep in my bed, that's cool, too. Time I'll spend with your dog During the week, I work a regular 9-5, but I'm almost always home for the duration of the evening. On weekends, and I'm often at home for long stretches, tinkering with some project. Or, if the weather is nice, I could be off taking a hike (which could include your dog). I'll try to keep your routine as best as I can. If your dog has a specific walk you do in your neighborhood each morning/evening, we'll do that. My goal is to provide your dog with as much normalcy as s/he needs to be comfortable while you are away, so you tell me: what can I do to make your dog comfortable and happy?
