Moxie - your dog’s new bestie
Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs in the DC area and joined Rover when I moved to Austin in 2012. After living in the dog-friendly city for six years, I moved to LA in 2018, where I enjoy exploring hiking trails, dog parks, and beaches with my 7-year-old lab mix Moxie. I’ve taken care of dogs of all sorts of breeds, sizes, and ages, so I’m used to different behaviors and temperaments. Moxie gets along great with dogs. She’s good at reading social cues, so whether your dog is energetic and playful or they prefer to chill and nap, she will, too. It’s important to note that for housesitting bookings, I do bring Moxie along with me. I know this may not be ideal for you, so wanted to give a heads up ahead of time. In addition, for housesitting, it’s ideal if: • You have a yard, as that’s what Moxie is used to and helps to make things run a bit smoother. Otherwise, I'd suggest seeing if boarding your dog at my place may be a better fit, as I have a fenced-in yard. • You don’t have anyone else living at the house, such as family members or roommates. It makes for a more comfortable environment. • You let me know ahead of time of any security or dog cameras. I completely understand the need for them, but it’s a common courtesy to give a heads up in terms of privacy. • Your home is tidy and how you’d leave it for a guest, including clean bathroom, floors, sheets, and towels. In terms of behavior, when boarding at my house, I ask that your dog: • Be OK with being at home alone for a reasonable amount of time (4-8 hours) without chewing or scratching things (shoes, books, walls, doors), whether that includes bringing along their crate or not. If your dog does end up damaging anything in my home, I kindly request compensation. • Is fully potty trained. • Does not bark excessively, especially when left at home. • Does not have separation anxiety. • Is good on leash and doesn’t pull, as well as doesn’t bolt out the door. • Is responsive to their name and generally obedient with basic commands. • Gets along with dogs and humans. For pick-ups and drop-offs for boarding bookings that are more than 2 miles away from my home, there is an extra charge of $5 per mile.
Reviews
Thien-y as always did a wonderful job taking care of our pup and a family member’s dog staying with us. She is incredibly responsible and responsive - you always know your dogs will be in good hands. Our nervous pup doesn’t always eat when we’re gone, but he felt comfortable and relaxed enough with Thien-y to eat normally. Highly recommend her to watch your dogs!
Thien was amazing with our fur babies. Got regular updates and the pups had a great time. Thanks!
Thien-Y was great! She was communicative, provided tons of updates/photos and feedback on how our dog was doing, and made sure that he was feeling comfortable, included, and happy. She took him for walks (not something our other Rovers have done - usually just let him roam the yard), which was great because he's big, but still gave him good yard time to roam and play with her own dog (who is so sweet). Highly recommend her and will definitely consider again in the future!
She is amazing!!! Certainly has me as a repeat customer for doggy daycare. Her dog is super sweet too.

I live in a 500 sq ft ADU that has a backyard and a fully fenced-off and gated area. While the gate is not locked and can be manually opened, it is always kept closed aside from when my neighbor or I are entering or leaving the driveway. Your dog will never be left outside unattended. If your dog is small and has a tendency to squeeze through small openings whether it’s under a fence or through a gate, my home is unfortunately not a fit for your dog (I know this seems extremely specific, but this has happened!). While my actual home is small, there’s plenty of room outside in my driveway and yard for your pup to run around. I share the yard and driveway space with my neighbors who live in the front house. Therefore, I want to respect their space and be mindful of their surroundings. This just helps make your dog’s stay easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

Information Thien-Y H. would like to know about your pet
Please answer the below questions when requesting a booking. • How many walks a day do they get and for how long? My neighborhood has a lot of dogs behind fences that bark. How do they react to a situation like that? Do they tend to pull on leash or chase after other dogs, squirrels, cats, or humans? • How are they off-leash, such as at dog parks? Do they have a tendency to bolt out the door when opening it? Are they responsive to their name? • Do they like to go with you to places, such as a restaurant/bar patio or to a park? • Do they have a tendency to chew or scratch on items in the home, such as furniture, carpet, shoes, or walls, including when left at home alone? • Are they house-trained? How many hours can they be left at the house for? Do they have separation anxiety? Do you keep them in a crate? • Do they bark, whether when left at home, meeting/playing with other dogs, or when people approach the door?
A typical day
I’ll take your dog on their regular routine walks around the neighborhood. I’ll also take them out on trails, the beach, or dog parks, if I happen to be going and they enjoy doing so. I like being outdoors and discovering dog-friendly spots, so I’m happy to hear your recommendations.
