all dogs are good at heart!

Pet care experience

I am happy to walk, play with, hike with, care for, or train your canine friend. I am trained in dog first aid and have taught canine wilderness medicine classes. Working with my rescue dog, Mason, I have gained a solid foundation in training and working with challenging behaviors. My focus is always on the individual dog and what they need, while strengthening the bond between dog and person. Whether we're walking or playing, there's always an opportunity to nurture that sweet puppy nature inside and reinforce healthy habits for all. I'm happy to accommodate any special needs/behaviors. Please contact me if your dog friend needs a little extra TLC. I'm willing to spend the extra time to make sure your dog feels safe, well cared for, and happy!

Thea would no doubt provide a safe and incredibly loving environment for any animal in her care. She is one of the most responsible and dependable people I know, and is strongly devoted to deepening her understanding of the canine emotional landscape, body language, and to becoming the best human she can be in service to her own beloved friend, Mason. She also serves as a curriculum advisor and instructor for my canine wilderness first aid program, so your pet is truly in safe, caring, and skilled hands when with her. Thea is able to put the needs of others ahead of her own, consistently anticipating others' needs and going above and beyond to be helpful and caring. Her devotion to the wellness of others, including animals, is just one of the many things that make Thea a lovely human being. I would trust her with 100% with the care of any pet!

I have watched Thea over the past few years as she has worked with her own dog's past trauma and fear-based reactiveness. She has gone above and beyond, exploring different training styles, and ultimately never giving up. Thea works in a way that is more than obedience training. She wants to build a bond with dogs that involves trust and allows them to express themselves and release energy in safe ways. I would trust Thea with any dog. She is patient, kind, compassionate, responsible, and a skilled handler.

It was so great to get her support for my dog Taiki while I was out of the town. She took him walks regularly, trained him (I requested,) loved him, and gave me updates with with pictures of his happy face. :) I could tell he was happy with her from the pictures. When I picked up him, he was not stressed at all, and it showed me how much he enjoyed being with her!! Thank you Thea. <3

My primary concern is to keep your dog feeling safe and happy. That means that in all that we do, I will be tuned into your dog's nervous system and I will adapt activities to best suit your dog.

Information Thea S. would like to know about your pet

What do you love most about your dog? Is there anything that you would like me to be aware of before interacting with your dog? Does your dog have any behaviors that you would like to shift? Is your dog reactive to anything in particular--other dogs, people, sounds, etc.?

A typical day

We can run and play in our fenced yard, enjoy walks to one of the many parks in the neighborhood, or go on an adventure to a river or trail in the mountains.
