Dog Lover - Pet Care in Spartanburg

Pet care experience

I am a pet lover and have been engaged in caring for neighbor's pets since I was young. I've been asked to walk, feed, bathe, and pet sit since I was 12 years old. I have my own dog whom I'm raising to be a therapy dog for local organizations. We utilize positive reinforcement training methods for all training activities. One of my strong traits is unwavering patience for dogs, regardless of how stubborn they can be. I believe the key to a happy dog is a mentally and physically exercised canine. Mental exercise is done through positive reinforcement training, puzzle feeders at breakfast/dinner, and stress relieving activates such as lick mats. Physical exercise can be achieved through various methods - hikes, walks, structured fetch (incorporating training such as dog must sit before the ball is thrown), long line training walks etc. I will incorporate owner requested methods for mental and physical simulation outside of these examples.

Tess is the absolute best! She took wonderful care of our two dogs, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Tess loved our dogs like they were her own and I never worried about their safety or care. I hope she is available the next time we need a pet sitter because she will be my number one choice. Our dogs were definitely sad to leave her and kilo when we came home.

The best experience I've had on Rover! Tess kept us updated daily, which helped us feel better about our Pyrenees' separation anxiety. She handled our 95# dog for a week, treating her like a member of her own family. 11/10, I would highly recommend and will be using her again anytime we need to leave town.

Our sweet girl had the best time with Tess! We received updates with pictures and videos and it was evident that she was having a wonderful time being active and getting cuddles too. We appreciated knowing that she was taken great care of while we were out of town. Thanks Tess!!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a dog of my own, who is a friend to all. I will introduce all pets to my dog in a structured method with leashes to ensure safety and/or compatibility of dogs. I only rely on positive reinforcement training to encourage desirable behaviors. If there are dog or family member food allergies, please let me know so I can ensure to keep allergens separate from your furry family member. Baths are available (at additional cost) for over-night visitors. A tear-free shampoo will be utilized, full blow dry done, and any brushing/grooming requested. Baths will be done the day you are picking up so your pet comes home smelling like a-million-bucks!

I work from home all day except for 2 hours on Wednesday mornings. On the Wednesday morning, before I go into work, I make sure to have all dogs relieved, walked, and fed. Upon coming home. My general schedule includes awake early for morning activities - potty time, walk, feeding. I then begin work. Dogs are allowed free roam of the home while I supervise, or if requested, they can be crated, or confined to office space in which I am present. I take breaks from working often to allow dogs outside time. If weather permits, dogs can be allowed to play outside for extended times. Once I log off of work, I take dogs on a second walk or engage in a positive reinforcement training session outside. Feeding can be done at times requested by owner. Walks can be of varying lengths up to 3 miles.
