Ultimately, I'd try to keep your pet's activities as similar to how they'd be with you. I feel this sense of familiarity is important to them because I am a new person to them and their owner is not there. If I plan on doing something outside the norm, I'd consult you. Some past activities I've done with high energy dogs are long walks, playing with toys, or visiting dog parks.
