Pet care experience

Full Time Attention, Care & Exercise for Your Pets! I'm Looking forward to offering Your Doggie: Overnight & Daytime Boarding for your happy Pets. Most breeds accepted. (Dog Beds & Food Bowls provided) My family raised Samoyed's for show, & throughout my life I've had the great opportunity to travel Europe and Central America with many of my Pet Companions. My Rainbow Bridge pets: Alaskan Husky, Siberian Husky, Samoyed's, Flat-Coated Retriever, Old English Sheepdog, Yorkshire Terrier, Cats & Rabbits. Many Breeds I've taken care of & Boarded (crate-free), many for several weeks or more: Dogs: Alaskan Malamute, Australian Shepherd, Beagle, Bichon Frise, Border Collie Sheepdog, Catahoula, Cocker Spaniel, Corgi, Dalmation, Dachshund, English Tea Retriever, French Bulldog, German Shepherd, Golden Doodles, Golden Retriever, Hound Dog, Japanese-Korean Village Dog, Labradoodle, Labrador Retriever, Lhasa Apso, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzer, Munsterlander, Old English Bulldog, Pomeranian, Poodle, Pure Tan Belgian Malinois, Saluki, Sakhalin Husky, Samoyed, Schipperke, Shih Tzu, Siberian Husky, Schnauzer, Soft-Coated Wheaten, Treeing Walker Coonhound, White Doodle, White Swiss-Canadian King Shepherd, Toy breeds:(Chihuahua, Dachsund, Pommie, Poodle, Shih Tzu, Yorkie), Weimaraner, West Highland Terrier, Whippet, Yorkshire Terrier, and Mixed breeds. Cats: Bombay Black, German Rex, Tabby, Siamese (Balinese), etc I'm familiar with all their life stages & preparing specialized meals. Dogs* & Cats of all sizes are welcome**. *Extra Large dogs 100+ lbs: an additional $10 per day fee. **most breeds & varieties. I'm a "husky-dog" person, and very familiar with huskies as dog friends. Tough Pullers: If your large dog is a strong lead puller, I prefer to not use prong collars, and I can use the "Gentle Leader" for at least a few walks if you like. It fits like a bonnet over the top base of their nose and chin. I've had lots of success with untrained dogs being able to take a normal walks all of a sudden. Some dogs require only a few sessions with the leader collar, then off to slip lead of either choke chain or rope depending upon the power of the animal. Your dog(s) may roam most of my house and can crate themselves if they want to play dog house snooze-time. Yet, I do no not crate them unless the owner specifies a need for it. ie., destructive chewing, if I leave the house which is rare. The commercial pet world is pushing a bunch of indoor crates & furniture, I feel these items are too dangerous in the hands of certain owners, and yet there's no way to stop the selling of them to just anyone who wants one. Please only crate when it's a short time-out, puppy training or in-use as their open dog house. If your dog destroys your furniture and clothing etc, he or she requires proper chew toys, from long lasting pet-ready knobbly rubber toys, hard bones with marrow or kong toys. If your dog has past the teething stage 1-2 yrs. (Normally, your Vet helps during the puppy stage regarding chewing.) Yet... after the puppy stage, I'd advise a Vet visit to help determine if there's a nutritional deficiency or something else causing the habit. Games: I play lots of music: Jazz, Latino, Cuban, Conga, Tango, Samba, Classical Guitar, Piano, Ravi Shankar, etc, & I play the conga or tabla drums as well. So we have our own dog parties. Indoor tennis fetch & frisbee; which some of the dogs go cuckoo over. Often, I cook or bake, which they enjoy being around. Daily walk!! If Wanting Doggie Day Care Only: My Preference: not over the weekends & weekdays are only for a few hours of ie., 10-4. All-in-all, I have 5 doggies sleeping at my feet right now, so I can only presume they love being here during their Holiday away from home.

Safety, trust & environment

Exclusive Foothills Setting with hikes & walks for your dogs! Grounds: There's a front garden patio aside from the rear garden with high walls, that's cool for them to visit. Including shade, plants and foliage. The back garden is heavily mulched and kept clean & fresh smelling. Sorry, there's no grassy lawn nor swimming pool! I'm working on growing 1/2 of the garden into rye-dichondra-bermuda grass. Gates: Front garden gate, front door, then an Indoor gate for their safety. Playtime: The living room's a fun place where your dog or cat can jump, race around, howl, and play with their toys. (or in the garden). I can also easily take care of smaller animals (reduced cost), from parrots to guinea pigs, rats, mice & even pet lizards, or fancy goldfish in a small 30 gallon freshwater goldfish tank.

Information Terissa M. would like to know about your pet

If your male/female dog has not been neutered or spayed, it may be difficult to schedule a boarding time, unless a Senior dog. I accept only 1 non-neutered male or 1 non-spayed female at a time, to avoid any possible mating issues. The others are all neutered and spayed. Reactive or aggressive pets, please let me know. Sometimes I can board them & other times I cannot, due to the other dogs present.

A typical day

We socialize and play, and most pets stay for about a week at a time, so they are comfortable and feel at home. Every day's a bit different, usually though, they have a good walk or two, a meal, play with their pals & snooze. We tend to have a quiet day together & sometimes listen to music or play fetch. The younger active dogs may find a great wrestling dog-friend that's also boarding & play for hours, while the senior dogs relax.

I'm home all day, unless out to a park. Sometimes, the dogs take a car trip: to the nearby dog park, people parks or natural hiking areas. Exercise Schedule; Play, Hike & Snooze! Modified depending upon; breed, age, their activity levels & the weather! (1) On a dog walk with some basic leash training. Distance: 1-2 miles a day. (2) Play-wrestling with other dogs, or playing indoor tennis ball fetch. (3) Lots of Relax time & taking naps in my office (under my feet) or in the living room. (4) Outdoors: (attended). (5) By the computer, while I paint (artwork), garden or cook in the kitchen. as an all-around friend to talk to, providing companionship. (6) Not in a Kennel environment, Crate-free*. House-Trained (Potty-Trained ) animals are welcome! Just like at home. *Yet, I do have a couple of large crates with dog beds for the dog house dweller types to snooze in (crate door open), or for a young puppy when they're still in training, to sleep in during the night. --- Meet & Greets: Rover prefers them outside of the home, and currently I do not offer weekly M&G's for prospective customers. Plus there would be a fee for the service. Upon drop-off if you're unsure of your dogs reaction, you can wait and watch them play. However, sometimes with their pet parent present they can be protective and guarded and it takes longer for them them to relax. So, I've had very few problems most socialized doggies adapt within 1-5 minutes with their new pals. & Normally do not have them meet on the sidewalk, (Rover's suggestion). My house is an open play-pen friendly environment, so it's been great for the dogs to acquaint quite quickly. A proud welcome group typically embraces the new dog & any minor dominance issues are sorted out right away. I always consider the compatibility of breeds present to help avoid dog aggression.
