Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin with sheep, chickens, dogs, and cats. I love all types of animals, and I could consider myself both a dog and cat person, but I especially love dogs. My whole life I have cared for and trained dogs, and loved my recent job as a dog walker. For approximately a year I worked for a high end pet and dog care franchise in Madison WI called Out U Go. This was probably my favorite job I've ever had and was sad to leave when my fiance and I moved to Duluth. I want to continue working with well behaved, friendly dogs because it makes me very genuinely happy.

Shama had a fantastic first experience with Rover, thanks to Tekhla's sincere care. It was clear that Tekhla was genuinely interested in the well-being of our dog. Tekhla made sure that Shama (10-pound Havanese) and her little dog Angel were comfortable together. Tekhla provided a little flight of cushioned stairs so that Shama could safely access her couch. Tekhla sent us photos and updates throughout Shama's five-hour stay. Tekhla's rate was very affordable, and we are delighted to give her a big tip! The next time we are in Duluth for a family event without dogs, Shama will stay with Tekhla again! Thank you, Tekhla!

I used to work with Tekhla at a local pet care company and she is someone I would 100% trust to take care of my pets! She pays great attention to detail and clearly loves all the pets in her care. This young lady has on occasion taken very good care of two senior terrier mixes we have had for more than a decade. They can be challenging as they are spoiled and have behavior issues - in every occasion she seems to bond with them and they seem to very much sense that she genuinely likes them. Every time she is here to take care of them they get exited and know they will have a good time.

I have a scheduled feeding time and areas for my own dog, and I can accommodate to any dogs feeding habits or schedule. I have an open basement room, a living room, pet loving roommates, and lots of clean open indoor space to rest and play. As for safety, I know the basics of having two friendly but unfamiliar dogs together. For example I would absolutely coordinate the dogs being seprate during feeding times. I also have two pet bunnies. They are in a very secure enclosure in the basement and will stay in the enclosure while and doggie guests are over. Something to note: I live with my fiancé and 2 other men live in the home. My fiancé works full time 9-5 and will hang out with us and go on walks with us when he is home. The two other men live upstairs and will have minimal contact with us, but will be in the home. All the men in the home love dogs and have a generally non-threatening deminor.

I would prefer friendly but generally calm dogs. High energy is fine as long as it doesn't turn to aggression. Obviously I would want your pup to get along with my smaller dog. In my preferences I liked medium to mall dogs only but I am open to very well behaved and calm large dogs.
A typical day
We love to go on long walks and I love to listen to podcasts while walking. When we're inside I love to play tug of war and fletch in the open living room. During naptimes and resting I'll be working on my art.

Availability
I am a stay at home artist, so I work on commissions and sewing all day, but I periodically get up to play with and walk my own dog. I have toys and dog beds and blankets in all areas of the house so no matter where I am my furry friends can be with me supervised and engaged.
