Pet lover with credentials!

Pet care experience

Pets with medical needs are my specialty, and I love the healthy ones, too! If your pet has medical needs which require visits outside of my listed available times, please message me anyway - we may be able to work something out. I am comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes and ages, cats of all ages, most small "pocket" pets (ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, etc.), smaller birds, fish, and some reptiles. I have a lifetime of experience caring for dogs and cats both in my personal and professional life. I am a certified veterinary technician, so if your fur-kid needs a little something extra or you just want trained eyes watching him or her while you're away, you can rest easy with me as your sitter! The cat needs pills? Your 125 pound Great Dane has special exercise requirements? Bella is diabetic and she needs insulin injections? No problem at all. I have years of experience with all of those tasks (and more)! I would be happy to help you and your pet with temporary medical needs or long-term care plans. I am also Low Stress Handling® Silver Certified, a certification program which teaches ways to reduce stress, increase trust, and modify behavior to make visits to the vet (or from a sitter) more pleasant for everyone involved. I have a strong personal interest in animal behavior as well as experience as a dog trainer. I have trained two of my own dogs to be certified Therapy Dogs, one in agility, one in flyball, and one in scent work! If you are struggling to communicate with your dog over behavior or obedience, I would love to help you speak the same language. (Cats can learn these things, too!)

Taylor took great care of Geo. She arrived on schedule.

Taylor is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to domestic animals. She has extensive experience with both cats and dogs, including both medical care and behavioral issues, and I have sought advice from her on multiple occasions. Experience isn't always enough though... In addition to that, Taylor has a genuine devotion to and interest in animals as individuals and an ability to connect with them that I have rarely come across, and I would warmly recommend her as a dog or cat caregiver.

Taylor takes great care of her dogs and she will take great care of yours too! She also has a lot of experience with horses and cats.

Taylor is very animal savvy. She is a foster home for one of the rescues I work with, and has worked wonders with the Australian Shepherds she has fostered. I would trust any of my cats or dogs with Taylor!!

Information Taylor S. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed preferences - all dogs and cats are loved by me! I personally own three larger dogs, but I like working with the little guys, too! Before sitting or walking your dog, I would like to know if he has any medical conditions (including any diet restrictions), if he has had any formal obedience training, how he reacts to new people entering the house and seeing them when he's on a walk and if his reactions are the same with children, how he reacts to other dogs while on a walk, and what his favorite treats/toys are. Looking at other sitters' profiles, it seems I want to know much more than they do - I like to ensure that your pet is going to have a safe, fun time with me! The best way to do that is for me to ask as much about his normal behavior, routine, likes and dislikes before we ever step outside.

A typical day

Dogs that enjoy walks can do so with me around their neighborhood, or at a nearby park. If there is a fenced in yard and your dog enjoys a game of fetch I'd be happy to throw his ball or frisbee for him! If there is no fenced yard, we can play fetch using a long line (very long leash)! If the weather is bad, or if your pup just isn't the walking type, there are lots of fun games we can play at home - learning new tricks, find the treat, scent work introduction...
