Animal Lover & Vet Tech
Pet care experience
Hello! Thanks for visiting our page! My name is Taylor and I have been taking care of animals since my parents let me get my first dog, Sadie, at six years old. Years later, I turned my passion for animals into a career for almost ten years! I was a veterinary technician for multiple clinics in the Mid-South and loved serving the pets and owners of this community. In this role, I did everything from basic tasks like educating pet owners about their pet’s conditions to walking, caring or bathing the animals to more complex tasks like assisting with surgeries and aftercare to making sure every animal is taking care of. I have extensive knowledge of important warning signs of animal distress as well as experience administering emergency procedures like CPR. I am also comfortable with daily maintenance tasks like administering oral or subcutaneous medications. My spouse, Kiersten, is a natural caretaker and grew up with the two fluffiest keeshonds in the world! During the pandemic Kiersten rescued an abandoned 6mo old black kitten and they’ve been inseparable ever since! As a professor, Kiersten works from home and is easily reachable if you would like photo or video updates! We require that ALL boarding and house sitting clients provide proof of veterinarian prescribed flea and tick medication as well as are up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm medications. This is because my spouse and I currently love and care for three pets of our own as well as provide for clients in and out of our home, full time! We adopted a cuddly cat, Sweet Pea, from Memphis Pets Alive. Apollo, a gentle lab mix, has been with me since he was a puppy because I also adopted his mom, Koda, who has unfortunately passed naturally. And Dolly Parton, an energetic pittie mix who loves all dogs, found us running down the middle of Kirby Parkway. We do not currently have any foster animals but I have rescued dozens of animals including different ages from an entire litter of puppies to senior dogs as well as animals with medical needs. I have been trusted by friends, community members, and veterinarians to take care of dogs and cats in their own homes too! I took a break from being a veterinary technician to help support my spouse at the end of a difficult and expensive PhD program; but, I miss working with animals deeply so Rover is a great fit for everyone! We look forward to taking amazing care of your fur babies and surpassing your expectations of safe and attentive pet care in the mid-south! We prioritize the health and well-being of your pet. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, on veterinarian prescribed flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and are up to date on vaccines. Please have documentation of your most recent prescription flea/tick/heartworm prevention dose and latest vaccination records.
Reviews
Taylor & Kiersten are great! They are very attentive dog owners and lovers, and they’ve got a great set-up at home for boarding. I especially felt comfortable because of their attention to my dog’s medical needs. Highly recommend.
My pup has had a few stays with Taylor and Kiersten and I am always so thrilled with the care he receives. 100% recommend to anyone

Our one story, midtown home has a large, securely fenced back yard with plenty of space to run around! We have baby gates that separate the bedrooms from the common areas and have multiple small and large pop-up kennels if you would like your pet to have their own space! In your home, I will be respectful of your space and adhere to any previously discussed routines or requests. If you need to update me on anything you may have forgotten, I am easily reached on my cellphone. I am also happy to send photos and daily updates! I love animals and take pet care very seriously. I understand how important your pets are to you and I plan to treat them the way I treat my own furry family.

I am equipped to handle most custom or special requests! As long as I have a little notice, the sky is the limit. I love to know your pets likes and dislikes ahead of time so I have the cheat codes to best support your fur babies! While I cannot provide official medical advice from my home or your home, if you have a medical concern I should watch out for, that’s helpful information too!
A typical day
I try to keep my own pets as well as the pets I care for with Rover on a routine schedule. When we wake up, I let our dogs outside to use the bathroom while I get their breakfast and medications ready. After breakfast I get some sunlight in the yard with them throwing balls or toys and supervising their playtime. Usually they’re ready for a nap so I make sure they have blankets and water before completing some of my school work. When they wake up I get them ready for their afternoon walk! We live in midtown so we decide if we want to walk around the crosstown concourse campus for socialization or if they need a more solitary walk through Overton park. Even on busy days we walk them at least a mile. After dinner and nighttime medications, it’s time for toys! Our dogs have both challenging treat puzzle toys and plush toys. The cat is pretty self sufficient and has an auntomatic feeder but still needs play time! We typically play with her while the dogs are having their solo play time. I am flexible if the routine doesn’t go exactly to plan but I try to maintain their sense of normalcy!

I have an extremely flexible schedule and can adjust easily to meet your needs! One of our favorite times of the day is being able to unplug for an afternoon walk around the crosstown concourse campus with our dogs. I keep our pets on a regular routine feeding and giving medications at the same times every day so following your requested routine will be a breeze. My spouse and I are in school and currently work from home part time, so your pet would never be alone in our home or yours!
