I was raised in a home where dogs are part of the family and are meant to be treated as such. I have been pet and house sitting since I was in high school and continued through college. I have my own dog and still live by the way I was raised. I have had experience with dogs and cats of all ages, even elderly dogs that need extra help. I have found that most animals find my size (tiny) and kindness welcoming, which I love. I understand that your fur baby is family, but I also understand they can't go everywhere with you (unfortunately). With the same love that I spoil my own with, let me keep company with your fur babies while you're gone, or even an afternoon potty break.
