When I think of my family tree, there are dogs as well as human ancestors that pop into my mind. My love of dogs has very deep roots in my family history as well as my own being. You really can’t think of a person without also remembering the dog that stood by someone’s side––dogs really are a man’s best friend. There have been many dogs I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and taking care of since I was a young child. I’m so grateful for those experiences because it’s made me who I am: caring, reliable, patient, and friendly. Dogs don’t discriminate with their love, and however cliche it sounds, it’s unconditional and constant. I recently watched an online video clip of a homeless man and his Pit bull mix who he said kept him alive over the years because this dog gave the man purpose––a reason to get up every morning––and showed him what love was. This man felt abandoned by the world, invisible to those who walked by him everyday without acknowledging his presence, and he contemplated ending his life. But then he looked at his precious dog, his only friend in the world, and he couldn’t bear the thought of abandoning his little guy, so he stepped off the ledge. Of course, I was balling the entire time as I watched, but it really made me see how dogs really affect the very fiber of our lives. I mean, can you imagine a world without cats and dogs? I certainly don’t want to. Since I move to Northern Virginia, I miss having their company, and I am here to offer a reliable sitting service and help you taking care of your dog. When I lived in Arlington, I worked as a dog sitter/walker.
