Your Dog's New Best Friend!

Pet care experience

Hey there! I am an animal LOVER, I have spent the past year taking a lead role in caring for my family Yorkie-Poo who is now nearly 16 years old. He is a bit anti-social, BUT loves to walk. After this I rescued my dog, David—rescued when he was 2, he was found on the side of the 405 highway in Los Angeles. I was in LA at the time working on a farm which was an animal sanctuary for chickens, pigs, cows and goats. Here I learned a lot about animal care, grooming and nutrition. David and I quickly bonded during this time and I brought him back to Toronto with me. What ensued was a journey I was not expecting after my only experience of dog care from a Yorkie-Poo raised from a puppy. However, my experience caring for Dave prepared me and taught me everything I need to know about dog nutrition, dog training, dog behaviour and communication. I spent endless amounts of time, working with various trainers, different types of dog tools and accessories and reading everything I can about dogs. I have used every type of dog lead, harness and collar, know how to operate a muzzle, have the experience to walk any sized and temperament dog, I can read dog's cues and behaviour. Cue my chocolate labradoodle, Tofino, he is my partner's dog whom I have had a full hand in raising on training. An excitable big dog, who has mild temperament—and loves to play. As a freelance writer, I create my own daily schedule. All my work is deliverable base, so other than a meeting here or there, I operate on my own time. I can manage my work schedule around the care for your pet and would prioritizer their needs of eating, food and play around my work. I operate a very flexible schedule. When walking dogs, I am always aware of my surroundings of others around me, and what is on the ground. Knowledge of your dog and their walking behaviour; what triggers them, do they often put things in their mouth, are leash aggressive, I would apply to foresight on our walk to ensure they have a fun one. That is diverting attention, avoiding high traffic areas or monitor what is on the ground if need be.

Tara was so amazing with my dog Max. She watched him for me for a few days. You can see how much she cares for them and it made me feel reassured leaving him She took him on so many walks. Definitely recommend her

Tara is an amazing caregiver and dog walker. She has a wealth of dog experience - with both rescues and puppies. She uses positive reinforcement when training and walking with my dog Tofino, which has transformed how he walks. Tara is so patient and kind with animals, and I would recommend her to anyone!
