Pet care experience
I have about 7 years of extensive emergency and specialty veterinary medicine experience for dogs, cats, reptiles, etc. I have been caring for horses, small animals, dogs and cats since I was 12 years old. I spent my off time volunteering walking dogs and taking care of cats at the humane society throughout high school. I would pet-sit, “barn-sit” and House-sit in high school through my early 20’s. Not to mention having my own herd ranging from a Great Dane to our “Heinz-57” rescue mixes to an amazing cat! I’m passionate and knowledgeable about animals! I am thorough, careful and detail oriented. As a very attentive pet owner, I understand and can deliver the level of care we expect for our fur-kids. I am new to Rover, but given my extensive medical and personal background with animals I am confident I can provide you with the level of care and ease of mind you need with your cats and/or dogs!

Tara has helped us so much with our 1 year old Goldendoodle. Tara would take her on training walks, which improved Stella’s behavior for when I would take her on walks. We’ve also had Tara pet sit for us. Her years of experience working at emergency vet clinics helped us feel comfortable leaving Stella. Tara is fun, and her home is clean and pet-friendly with a big, fenced backyard. Would highly recommend!!
Tara grew up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and hamsters, and horses. She has always kidded that she prefers working/being with animals over people, and her last 5+ years as a veterinarian assistance might lend truth to her statement. While she does indeed enjoy animals, especially dogs, cats and horses, she also knows how to handle them safely, and is a patient yet firm teacher when it comes to obedience. With her years of experience as a vet assistance, being an owner of several dogs & cat, plus her love and respect for animals, I feel comfortable highly recommending Tara as a dog/cat minder and/or sitter, and as a dog watcher.

Sometimes we as owners can downplay some of our pet’s more cantankerous behaviors, be it escape artist, dog/food/leash or people possession/aggression, or even just getting into things they shouldn’t (i.e. knows how to get into the cupboards, etc.). For my and your pets safety and comfort, the more upfront you are the happier everyone will be! I am comfortable working with pets with special needs but we just need to be able to tailor a routine to them! (: I love all breeds of dogs!
A typical day
We can on walks wherever the owner is most comfortable with us going! Be it to a nearby park, or just around the neighborhood. I have successfully taught my pups to jog nicely (no pulling) and safely next to a bicycle and so if you feel your dog might have some excess energy to burn off and think this might be something they would enjoy, we could talk about trying it.
