DOG PARADISE near PSU Altoona
Pet care experience
My home: I keep a clean, dog-friendly home. All my floors are hardwood or tile (easy cleaning in case of accidents). I have a walk-in shower that is ideal for bathing dogs (an add-on service available to our boarders). I’m home full-time and I have a beautiful, fenced-in backyard in a country setting. My dogs: Sunny and Luna are both rescue dogs with great personalities and pleasant dispositions. Luna is the “constable” making sure nobody is being bullied and quietly watches everything that goes on in her yard. She’s super smart and intuitive. Sunny.....well, he’s not the smartest dog I’ve met, but he’s pretty darn cute! He’s a lover. He will greet you with shouts of joy upon arrival and loud farewells when you leave. He likes to climb onto your lap and touch your face with his paws. They both love each other so much and they love other dogs! They enjoy running around the pond and chasing each other while we sit on the deck and laugh at them. Who needs tv with that kind of entertainment? When weather doesn’t permit such outdoor shenanigans, we have toys coming out the wazoo (thanks to Sunny’s & Luna’s addiction to BarkBox). My experience: I grew up on a farm and have had dogs since I was a small child. I have over 40 years of experience as a pet owner of various breeds. I have volunteered at rescue organizations for years and continue to support them. I learn new things from just about every dog I meet. My location: Although my address is Dysart, I am on the Blair/Cambria County line, 5 miles from Penn State Altoona. My home is on a small farm with lots of land and few neighbors. My clients: Because we have many established clients who have smaller breeds, we are limiting our boarders to small and medium size dogs. Our dogs share the same space in and out of doors and we want to eliminate the possibility of larger dogs accidentally injuring smaller dogs. We do require that your dog be able to stay in a crate if we should have to leave the house. Your dogs safety is our primary concern.
Reviews
I highly recommend Tammy to anyone who is looking for a "home away from home" for their dog. Tammy is so nice and accommodating and you know from the first time you talk with her that she loves dogs and treats them like family. I was very apprehensive about leaving my 3 month old puppy with anyone but, once I met her, my fears went away and I knew Jax would be well taken care of. Her dogs were also very good with Jax and he loved playing with them! I really think he was sad to leave as he had so much fun at her house.
Alexa felt right at home at Tammy’s house, a great location on the mountain. Tammy sent a video showing me Alexa running outside, and playing with the other dogs, while I was visiting the nearby Horseshoe Curve railroad historic site.
Wouldn't take my babies anywhere else. Tammy took better care of them than I could ever have expected. She runs a clean, loving and calm paradise at her residence. It was a vacation for our fur babies as well. My prayers were answered. I actually enjoyed my vacation without worries. Daily pictures and video made me miss them less.
Tammy is very friendly. She took great care of my dog. She did a great job giving him insulin shots and making him feel comfortable and at home. I will definitely be using her in the future!

Information Tammy W. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know as much as possible about your dog; favorite types of toys, what it likes and doesn't like, medical history, personality traits, social experience, activity level, does it like to snuggle or prefer to have its space, what annoys it, what makes it excited, etc. I love all breeds, and prefer to keep small or medium dogs, but if you have a large dog that is laid back and good with people and other dogs we are willing to try a meet and greet and see how it goes.
A typical day
We have a large fenced yard where your dog can run and play with my dogs and go outside as often as they like. We also love snuggle time and relaxing in between periods of playful activity.
