My love of animals has no bounds.

Pet care experience

Ive taken care pets since I was a child. My 1st dog was Angel. She was a rescue dog. Back then, she was called a German Spitz. (I’ve been told the name has changed, since.) She was white & fluffy & beautiful. We did everything together. When she passed away I refused to leave her alone in the garage. My parents found me the next morning, lying beside her. She was my 1st love. I’ve had an intense love of animals (especially dogs) ever since. My most recent doggy love was Lucy. (She’s the German Shepard in my pics.) She was also a rescue. I was told that the scars on her legs were from her being chained up in a back yard, for years. Lucy didn’t know how to play when I got her. She didn’t respond to any toys, in any way.... Until she discovered BUBBLES! This is how I got her to come out of her shell. Bubbles & long walks became our routine. It was incredible to watch her discover the world. She was majestic! Unfortunately, Lucy passed away last December. I will get another dog 1 day, but until then I’d love to love on yours.

Safety, trust & environment

There’s plenty of yard space and the only child is 12. She’s very respectful of animals & is usually in school. I offer long brisk walks &/or what I like to call a “stop & smell the roses” walk. That’s when I slow down & let dogs use their noses for stimulation. We might not get as far, but it still gets out lots of energy & breaks the monotony of taking the same walk, over & over. There is also a dog park nearby, where we can play fetch or just run all of our energy out. (Maybe play with some bubbles?) Depending on social skills, we might even be able to socialize with other dogs. (Unless otherwise stipulated.) The pics in my profile are all pets I’ve cared for in the past.

Information Tammy P. would like to know about your pet

Temperament, likes/dislikes, habits, triggers, fears, any illnesses or injuries I should be aware of, favorite toy/treat, etc. No preferences. I love all pets.

A typical day

We will go on walks (distance depends of what the dog can handle/needs) & play at the dog park. There’s a shallow creek not far from me & if the weather permits, I like to take the dogs to play there, as well. I like to see what motivates/interests each dog & base our activities on that. I have some indoor activities available, just in case weather doesn’t permit outdoor activities. I’ve had dogs that like playing hide & seek. Others like puzzle type games. Some dogs like to be brushed & others just want to be left alone, especially after walks. I don’t like to pressure a dog too much. They usually let me know what they enjoy & what they don’t. Just takes a little trial & error.

Availability

I work part time doing caregiving for the elderly & hospice care. Anytime I’m not doing that, I’m available. I would love to make dogs my full time work. (My current job is great, but can get depressing.) I don’t have any young children, so my schedule is relatively flexible. I’m always open to new opportunities & would be honored at the chance to be your dogs friend.
