While many in my community may define me as unusual, I like to think of myself as complex. My multifaceted identity is best illustrated when it comes to my passion for animals, especially dogs. This passion developed through experiences I had with my uncle on his farm and horse stables when I was younger. As a child I found myself spending time playing with horses, dogs, and other farm animals. I've also always had a dog in the house ever since I was born, which helped me gain a huge amount of experience with dogs. My animals transcended into my friends, and later, my life’s purpose. As I matured, and started paying attention to the world outside of my home and farm, I realized the struggles and desperation street dogs had to survive on a daily basis in my country, Egypt. One day, I just couldn’t ignore it anymore. I diverted my anger and disappointments into action. Week by week, I would lure street dogs into our stables where they would be fed, vaccinated, and given affection. I found happiness in providing them with daily food and water. Gradually, I began taking in more strays who were terribly ill. I rehabilitated and nursed them and provided them with a home at my family’s stables. The feeling of seeing a dog that was once broken down, roaming freely and happily at the stables was more fulfilling than any gift or joy I had ever experienced. This immeasurable sense of pride drove me to further want to aid as many animals as I possibly could. Traveling from Egypt to the US in order to get a better education made me realize that I could use my passion of caring for dogs here. As a dog owner, I know how hard it could be to leave your pet behind while traveling or simply leaving them alone at home. It can be especially hard when leaving your dog with someone you do not know. And that is why I decided to be a dog sitter. I want to take stress of off busy dog owners by ensuring that I will take very good care of those dogs, while also giving those dogs an exceptional time until their parents return.
