Pet care experience
I have been actively involved in animal rescue in the NOVA area since I was born practically. My family has fostered upwards of twenty dogs in our home at one time, as well as having several pets of our own. At the rescue and independently, I have worked with and rehabilitated dogs with various behavior problems, including fear, aggression, and reactivity to other dogs or environmental stimuli. I am also an avid equestrian with over a decade of experience caring for, riding, and training horses. Since I was around five, I have worked in the barn, mucking stalls, making feed, grooming, and turning horses in and out, among other chores. However, my favorite part of being around horses, besides going really fast and jumping big things, is pony hugs/snuggles and the sweet whinnies of recognition the horses give when they see me. Since I began high school in 2015, I started my own business, solely by word of mouth, for dog walking, in-home overnight sitting, and dog training in the NOVA area. I have a unique approach to dog walking based on my overall training philosophy and extensive animal behavior research, known as the structured walk. This approach has developed from over a decade of studying dogs and working closely with them. For the structured walk, every dog that enjoys being with other dogs is offered the ability to socialize with other friendly client dogs (with each client's permission, of course!) in local parks or pet-friendly stores. On each adventure, structure and leadership from the human are maintained through various games meant to reinforce basic obedience skills and ensure no one gets too rowdy! As a result, dogs usually return home very tired, extremely happy, and have usually learned something while experiencing many unique environments such as Home Depot, Lowes, HomeGoods, Micheles, Jo-Annes, TJ Maxx.

I am so thankful for Sydney’s help!! She was available super last minute, accepted with grace and made sure my previous boy was well taken care of. Very Communicative. Highly recommend!!
I can't say enough nice things about Sydney and her mom Aileen! Aileen walked in to meet my dogs for the first time and literally dropped to her knees to give them love and kisses. You can tell how much they love animals. It's immediately apparent they are serious about their jobs as caregivers. She stayed in my house overnight for the first time and I will definitely schedule many more visits. I received tons of video and picture updates as the day and evening progressed. They truly care. This was my first-weekend getaway without my dogs in 6 years. I have 1 giant breed dog that weighs 260 pounds and also a bulldog, they are not the easiest dogs as they have many struggles with mobility. Aileen was totally on board with how to care for them, in fact, she embraced their weird quirkiness. I am thrilled to know these wonderful women.
Sydney has been our dogsitter for years now, she is punctual, dependable, and my dogs love her. I have 5 Dalmatians, a Rat Terrier, and a Mini Aussie, all high energy pups... not an easy task. All seven dogs love her. It is the best feeling to know that when I go away I will return to happy faces. Sydney has also volunteered to help when I foster. She is a true dog lover.

Either my mother or I stay in each client's home with their pets (dogs usually, cats, horses, ponies, and donkeys occasionally). We have a lot of experience with administering medications reliably, including insulin and identifying signs of illness. We keep the schedule that the pets in the home are used to for feeding, walks, and average time usually left alone. We are also always open and eager to learn and adjust to any requests that you as an owner may have, as you know your pet best! We give them all the attention, special care, and love that they deserve and treat them the way we treat our own pets, and try to leave our client’s home cleaner than it was when we arrived.

One of our favorite activities to do with the dogs are walks in open spaces with the freedom to run. My mom and I regularly take client dogs on walks to Balls Bluff Battlefields, Morvern Park, Ida Lee Park, and some of our friend's farms across Middleburg and Leesburg. We also love to play games with the dogs, such as laying scent trails for them, hide and seek of treats or toys, or puzzle toys, as it engages their minds, noses, and bodies.

I am a foreign affairs major, with minors in leadership and public policy, at the University of Virginia (UVA), so I am home for the summer and major holidays. Once I go back to Charlottesville in the fall and spring, my mother takes over full time. We have used this system for a couple of years now since I began university, and it works seamlessly. Each day there are many pets on our schedules, so we have become proficient at time management. Due to our usual walking style, the structured walk, we can take more dogs out for incredible adventures at a single time while meeting more of each dog's mental, physical, and emotional needs. We can always accommodate dogs that don't like to be around other dogs or can't yet due to age, aggression, or other behavioral struggles by walking them alone in environments best suited for their success and unique needs.
