Looking to love your dog
Pet care experience
I’ve had the pleasure of growing up with dogs and cats my whole life. My family and I are habitual dachshund collectors and we can never seem to get enough. We’ve also had Weimaraners and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Along with dogs, I've always had at least one cat... even the shy/quiet kitties are my favorite. I love all dogs… dogs of any shape or size or color or breed. I recently moved my own wienie back to Ohio to live with the rest of his pack in the great outdoors. So now I’ve got all the free time (Aside from my 9-5 in Carlsbad Village) and I’m missing the dog life oh so badly. Not only am I looking to love on your darling doggo… I am very active and accommodating.. so we can get into whatever kind of exercise or activity your dog needs to stay happy and healthy while away from you.

Sydney is a pet lover through and through. She has cared for my families dogs for years. When she is not caring for them, she has cared for my three cats and my apartment! She has also assisted in caring for animals during my time with Rover. Sydney provides thorough and compassionate care to all animals (even geckos!). She is kind and respectful. I will always trust Sydney with watching over my home and caring for my pets.

My biggest thing is making sure the dog/cat isn’t overwhelmed and is trusting of me/the situation. I love love love to cuddle on dogs and pick them up and rub their faces and their ears… but only after the dog vibes with me as well. After all… they’re still animals. And their instinct is to protect themselves, their space, and their people. So as soon as we establish a good bond, it’s all happy times from there! I am available for long or short walks or runs. Hikes. I’m happy to stop in for check-ins & feedings. I’m very open to house-sitting while watching your dogs as well.

I always feel better when I know and understand a dogs triggers. Some dogs are very sensitive, and thats ok! And even the chillest, most-unphased dogs can still have that one thing that gets to them. In my experience, dogs don't want to panic and snap at you. So that's why I like to know what NOT to do for your dog, just as much as I want to know what to do for your dog. Next, I think that diet is quite important as well. The last thing I'd want is any sort of digestive issues for your dog while you're gone. I personally am a big fan of letting the dogs clean up the table scraps, but I know that not all dogs stomachs can handle that. So I do whatever is best for your dog. Lastly, I always like to know what brings your dog comfort and happiness. Whether it be a dark room with blankets or something as simple as a half-destroyed sock. Everybody has that one thing that brings them peace! I like to know what your dog loves the most.
A typical day
Whatever your dog is comfortable with, I probably am too. I love taking dogs for walks to meet new people at the park or along the coast on the sidewalks. However, if your pup doesn't like crowds as much, I love going to local, not-so-crowded parks and finding a nice path or corner to set a blanket down and enjoy some fresh air with the pup. My favorite walk is right by San Elijo Lagoon in Cardiff. Its quiet, scenic, and you can make the walk as long or as short as needed.

Availability
So currently I work 9am-5pm on Tuesday-Saturday. I am available LITERALLY anytime other than that. I am entirely available on Sundays and Mondays and anytime before or after work. No matter how early, or how late. I can be there!!
