Eager to Care for All Animals!

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Sydney Brown and I can't wait to meet you and your pet! I’ve recently graduated college with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from Abilene Christian University and am looking for a way to earn some extra income to help pay for graduate school at the University of Arkansas. A friend showed me this app our freshman year of college and my services have been open to the public since my first year of college. I became a sitter, because I love animals, and am not able to have my own pets at this moment in time, so I'm here to give a lot of tender, loving care to yours! Although, I do live with two cats, named Edith and Agnes, but they are still rather upset with me for having abandoned them to go to college in West Texas. Since my departure, both cats have preferred my parents over me. I have experience with senior animals and special needs animals, as one of my dogs who passed away a few months ago was close to 16 years old and he was completely blind and deaf. I've also had experience administering injections, as the senior dog, also had a neurological disorder and has a history of needing steroid shots. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions about my services or even if you are needing some explanations about my services. I am more than happy to break down some of the more confusing portions that the Rover Application offers. I am also more than happy to help you find the least costly options for your fur-babies, even if the position of care taker doesn't lie with me. However, I hope you will consider me first and foremost!

Sydney was great and our dogs loved her. Two of our dogs are akitas that aren't normally interested in new people. They were happy and it made us feel better about leaving them for a weekend.

Safety, trust & environment

I will typically only perform services within a client's home, so as to make you and your pet more comfortable. That way it's easier for your pet not to be undisturbed by routine, or for the older generations of pets to be confused and maybe disoriented by new surroundings. Most of the clients I sit for nowadays have a doggy door, making potty time easily accessible, with a securely fenced in backyard and with no chance of escape. However, in cases like that, where pets have safety and security, I will do everything in my power to stop a freak accident from happening, such as prison break or wildlife walking freely into your home. It's also a standard that many of you have cameras in your homes nowadays, so if I'm out of your home and you're unsure of everything being safe and secure, feel free to call me and let me know if your fur-babies is acting out or in danger.

Information Sydney B. would like to know about your pet

I have no preferences regarding animal breeds. However, I am more inclined to offer whatever service will make you and your pet the most comfortable. I am not limited to one particular service for a specific type of animal or their needs. If you have a pet is a little older and it's more difficult to perform a single service, I am willing to do whichever one of the services I provide that makes you feel more comfortable for you and your pet. Re-occurring services are the better option fro clients that have a constant routine and schedule, but maybe they feel their pet is hyperactive, overweight, or neglected (etc.) by the routine and busy schedules. If you're planning on using my services long-term I am considerably more accessible for specific services, while also finding a good fit for everyone involved.

A typical day

A typical day for me is more dependent upon who my clients are, and how they want their pet trained or stimulated. I'm a stickler for routine, so if you were to book me for a walk in the morning, I would make sure that we do get a fair amount of exercise in, but that it isn't boring. We would learn social cues for other dogs, how to greet or not greet people, how to not pick things up in our mouth, and especially how to be still when cars could go by us. A drop-in visit may differ where I complete a puzzle toy activity with them, feed them, or give them treats based off of their training words and exercises. We may go into the back yard and play fetch for the entire visit, but over the years I've even had some dogs who love to put on a floatie and go swimming for their drop-in visits when it's hot out.

I do have a current full-time position as a file clerk, but that doesn't stop me from being a very flexible person and more than willing to work with you so that I am able to help you to the best of my ability with your fur-babies. I'm proud of my time management and scheduling skills and I love being given the opportunity to use them. I'm very strict and secure with routine. For example, I currently perform walks in the mornings, when the weather is cooler, versus drop-in visits, where I can perform them at any given time, even if the situations is a freak accident where life happened and you aren't able to get home for a evening feeding.
