Pet care experience
I have hired dog sitters for my dogs for 30 years on a consistent basis. I have never kenneled my dogs, though I do not judge those who feel this is necessary. I walk my dogs on leashes and will be happy to take yours for walks as well. Fetch? No problem. Rain? We won't melt. I am an early riser, so getting to your home early is easy. They will receive a lot of attention during my visit to your home. I love and appreciate animals, their needs, personalities and quirks. I have cared for guinea pigs, cats, dogs, fish, frogs, birds, chickens and a bearded dragon. I am a former Board member of the STHS, have rescued and placed dogs/cats many times, the last time was in the Summer of 2022 when I heard meowing outside my front door. Lucky at 6 weeks old was on the verge of losing an eye. I got him fully vetted and homed with a wonderful lady who says her home is now complete. Together we saved his eye and learned how to "kitty burrito" with the help of my vet. He is a traveling kitty now! Before this year, in 2018 I rescued a stray kitten, paid to get her fully vetted and placed in a kitty home. In the past I volunteered at New Heights Therapeutic Riding Center with special needs people for horse therapy. At the present I have 1 rescued Westie/Maltese, the baby of the family. We lost our pack leader, Sasha to cancer in October 2018 then our beloved Oliver to a cancer in June of 2022. I understand how to care for special needs pets having provided extraordinary care for mine with cancer. My Elliott is 7+ and we have been together for over 6 years, alone now just a few months and still adjusting. While Elliott is happy to have the bed more to himself, I know he misses his pack family so we work as a team when requested/possible. We have now traveled together over the summer and Fall. He's a good little hiker. I am self-employed and work mostly out of my home and have the flexibility to help you when you can't be home to care for your pets. I have now lost 3 rescue Westies to cancer. Before that my terrier mix lived to be almost 21 years. I understand and am able to help with medical needs, love and care for elderly dogs. I understand and love active terriers. I have had puppies and yes, they have tinkled on me. That's what puppies do! I am a home owner and will consider and care for your personal space and respect your privacy. I know what you need and want in a sitter, it's what I need and want in a sitter.

It is impossible to describe how awesome Suzie is. I was so nervous about utilizing this service. Upon meeting Suzie during the meet and greet, it is obvious how much she loves animals. And they love her! She knows what she is doing, she understands the angst that we feel leaving our pets. She spent quality time with our dog. She was the highlight of his day. She is wise and caring. My heart was calm during the time that we were gone - just knowing that our sweet Oliver was in her care.
From initial communication to working out details to daily check-ins on our two cats while we were on vacation, Suzie was easy to work with and everything we needed in a sitter. Along with being 100% reliable, Suzie’s experience with and love for animals was apparent. Our Maine Coon Cat can be tricky, but she warmed up to Suzie immediately. If she’s available, she’ll be our first call next time we need a cat sitter.

If your pets have special quirks, needs, preferences it is important that I am aware so that I meet their needs. If they are accustomed to long walks we can do that, but don't want to go on long walks if your dog is not conditioned to do this. We can keep it short and just sniff around. We can discuss other activities at a meet and greet time.
A typical day
We play fetch, belly rubs, walks around your neighborhood, chase in the yard. Whatever activities stimulate your pets. For kitties, we play with toys and feathers. Kitty love bites welcomed! I also clean eyes when I care for them during extended stays, watch for anything that may need medical attention including behavioral and will bring it to your attention. We take lots of photos and videos to send to you while you are away.

I am self-employed and can make my own schedule and have time to work around the schedule(s) of your pet(s). I am an early riser and can get them out as early as they are accustomed to going out.
