Pet care experience
I have titled my mixed breed dogs in AKC competition obedience, rally obedience, agility, and tricks and teach obedience and dog sport classes at the local training club. I love being around all animals and helping owners bring the best out of their furry and scaly family members. If I'm walking or house sitting for you, I'd love to help work on problem behaviors or teach fun tricks. I love all sized dogs, especially the gentle (or rowdy!) giants. I have a degree in zoology and related experience. l also have a herd of rescue cats and have had guinea pigs, hamsters, and ferrets in the past. I have extensive professional experience with caring for reptiles, amphibians, and raptors, so watching over your exotics is not an issue! I work from 6am-4:30pm Tuesday through Friday. I'm free all day Saturday through Monday and evenings Tuesday through Friday.

Susan went above and beyond. She met with me a day before drop in visit to ensure Rajah was comfortable with her. She gave me updates through her visit, went for nice long walks, and made sure rajah felt love while I was away. Definitely recommend!

Susan has a great deal of knowledge about dog behavior, dog training, as well as the nutritional component of a well balanced canine. She places a high emphasis on training for success through interactive exercises. She has proven herself as a deducated obedience instructure. I have known her for three years in the capacity as an instructor.
Susan has been a long time friend through our dog training club. I’ve seen her enthusiasm working with her own dogs, and the support of lending a hand to countless others. I’ve seen her go above and beyond for her own animals, and plenty of cats and dogs (other species even!) that were homeless, and just needed TLC and a fresh start. She has drive, initiative, dedication, and plenty of instincts to see that your pets are taken care of to the best of her abilities! They’ll be calling her Aunt Susan before ya know it!

Your animal would get their own room in my finished basement. I keep dog beds/mats, treat puzzles, and toys in there, along with security cameras to watch them while I'm at work, and keep a variety of chews and training treats on hand. I'm happy to work on any training you're doing with your dog or cat while you're gone. I have Fi collars on my dogs, so if your pet also has a Fi, you can connect to my base and add me as a walker to track where we go and the activity your pet is getting.

I need to know about any human, dog, cat, reactivity or aggression issues, issues with noises (such as sensitivity to thunderstorms), training that's already been done, health or behavioral problems, preferred training methods (if you want me to work with your animal), and typical gear that you use (leashes, collars, harnesses).
A typical day
I love hiking with my girl, but we also enjoy dog-friendly stores to stay cool in the summer and work on training. I love working a dog's brain with scent games and puzzles - that usually wears them out more than physical exercise and can help reduce stress and separation anxiety.

Availability
I work full time, but work early from 6am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday, and from home two days a week, so lots of time at nights and on weekends, and can get up early and walk/care for pets on my way to work.
