Agawam-Loving home away from home

Pet care experience

Hello to all new guests: Please note: I require a meet-n-greet/assessment prior to accepting any reservations. Please give me the dates for which you are looking for care for your pup/s, some information about your wonderful fur babies, and feel free to ask me any questions about my hosting. I am happy to answer any questions so that you find the best possible host for your pup/s. :) Hi, my name is Sue. Though we no longer have a family dog of our own, I have many years of experience caring for and handling dogs. The dogs we have hosted have become family to us. We love each one for their special and unique qualities. We appreciate our guest families for all their support, trust, and respect since we started hosting. And, we thank our guest families for sharing their fur babies with us--they enrich our lives each time they are with us. Their sweet faces and unconditional love are priceless. We never take that love and trust for granted. The care and safety of each pup is paramount. While I happily and lovingly host pups of all ages, and most sizes and breeds, the comfort, safety, health and welfare of all my guest pups is my highest priority. I typically host a maximum of 3-4 pups at a time. I provide a loving, comfortable home--not a kennel. My guest families like the love, care and individual treatment their pups receive in my home. I work with my guest families to help provide the care needed and respect their parameters for their pups. I always contact booked owners to let them know when new inquiries or reservation requests will overlap with their dogs and get their feedback whenever possible before accepting bookings. I carefully consider each dog's needs and temperaments before booking dogs together. It is our honor to provide care and a loving home to your pups. It is the best "job" I could ever have! :) As I do not work outside my home, I provide nearly 24/7 care for all my guest pups (if I am not here, my husband or adult son are). On the rare occasion that I need to be away for an appointment or emergency, I notify my guest families beforehand. Please note the following requirements: All dogs must be well socialized with other dogs--even puppies. I almost always have multiple dogs at my home, so I cannot host dogs that do not get along well with other dogs for the best experience for all the dogs in my care. This means that even though I don't have a family dog of my own anymore, I typically cannot host dogs individually any longer that don't get along with other dogs. I do not host destructive chewers. All puppies MUST have a successful overnight stay with other pups before booking an extended stay. Puppies have different needs and requirements than mature dogs. Puppies are an additional fee. I do not have a fenced yard if this is important to the care of your dog. I provide walks and other outdoor time every 2-3 hours, about 5-6 times/day (or as often as is required, particularly as pertains to puppies, senior dogs, and pups with health issues). Because I don't have a fenced yard, ALL dogs must be able to do their business (both pee and poop) while walking on a leash. I cannot host pups that must be free or roaming to do their business. All new guest pups that will be here for any stays longer than an overnight must have a successful daycare/overnight visit to ensure dogs will do their business while on-leash, will eat, and that they are social with other dogs. This will be evaluated at the meet-n-greet to determine if this requirement can be waived. I do require a meet-n-greet for any dog boarding overnight. If you are passing through the area and looking for daycare for your pup while you visit Six Flags or The Big E, I would be happy to talk to you on the phone about your pup. I do not quote multi-dog or extended stay discounts. I do not host aggressive dogs. While I do not crate dogs, all dogs must be able to respect a gate and not jump over or break through it as I use gates to separate dogs throughout stays. All dogs must be able to stay at least a few hours alone in case of emergencies or appointments when I must be away from home. All my guest pups must be up-to-date on all their vaccinations and be on a flea/tick treatment. Documentation of your pup's vaccinations can be brought at drop off or emailed to me before their stay. All dogs must be spayed/neutered. I live just minutes from I 90, I 91, Rte, 57, Six Flags England, and the Eastern States Exposition (The Big E). I currently offer doggy daycare (in addition to overnight boarding)! I’d be happy to keep your pup entertained while you’re away for the day. *Certified in Pet CPR/First Aid/Pet Saver--now my husband and I are both certified to better care for your pets. My family had a beloved yellow lab for 14 years that recently passed that filled our hearts with joy. Not ready to replace our pet at this time, we jumped at an opportunity to sit for a family member's dog recently for a week while they were on vacation. It has been rewarding for my family to fill our home again with the vibrancy only an animal can bring--and it was lots of fun for the dog as well. We like all types of dogs, as they all have unique personalities to enjoy! My family is loving and warm, laid back and relaxed. As a previous pet owner of an aged and infirm dog, I have lots of patience with animals. I live in Feeding Hills, and live close to a State Forest and enjoy taking walks (I like to walk several times each day for 20-40 minutes at a time) and being outside with a dog, as it is great exercise for us both. I do not have a fenced yard at this time, but I walk the dogs every 2-3 hours. I believe walking is a wonderful structured activity for dogs that engages both their minds and their bodies. And, well-exercised pups are happy pups! I have lots of time to spend with your pet, and would love to treat them like part of our family while while they are with us, as your pet would be my number one priority. I look forward to hearing from you, and wish you much success in your search.

We can’t say enough about the care our dog gets with Susan M. And her family, but even though we don’t travel much, they are our dog’s happy second home. Every detail is taken care of. They are lovely people, and our dog is spoiled and happy there. So many thanks!

It has been over a year (COVID) since we ventured out and hired Ms. Sue and her family to care for Luna. As soon as we pulled into the driveway Luna could not contain her joy to see them. It was quite the reunion and proves how awesome they are! It is great to know that Luna is well cared for when we need to leave her!

Truly, our Tuxie’s favorite vacation spot! She hardly looks back when we leave. Susan and family take such good care of our old lady dog. She is treated like a Queen! Thank you so much!

A typical day

We spend a lot of time outside walking--weather permitting. I live close to a State Park and we often take hikes in the woods if the dogs enjoy that activity. We also play with toys both inside and outside. We have a very active day that is both physically and mentally stimulating to the dogs. But, we also have plenty of times for cuddles and love.
