Teaching old dogs new tricks!
Pet care experience
Give your dog a stay-cation! I watch your dog in your own home. I do everything I can to make your trip worry-free. That includes taking in the mail, watering plants, any reasonable housesitting tasks. Your pup sticks to their routine and gets lots of love and one on one attention! Do you have a large dog? Great! I have plenty of experience with big dogs. Medical conditions are not a problem. I have plenty of experience giving pills, and I often work with dogs who might need some extra consideration around their medical conditions. I'm used to working around special needs; my dog had hip dysplasia surgery. Over several months of gentle exercise, balanced diet, and regular supplements, he's regained most of his mobility! Does your dog have behavioral issues? I have plenty of experience with anxious or aggressive dogs. Most dogs just need a bit of patience! I practice positive reinforcement, rewarding desired behavior and ignoring (non-harmful) unwanted behaviors. People with high energy anxious dogs have come home to find that their dogs are actually tired! I'm an experienced dog person: I volunteered at the SPCA for several years, and have worked at a dog boarding facility/daycare. You might come home to find I've taught your dog a trick or two! Do you have exotic pets? I have experience with parrots, snakes, iguanas, skinks, sugar gliders, crows, and turtles, as well as more common small mammals like mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits. Rover doesn't offer options for exotics, so we can charge these as a dog walk or a cat visit depending on the level of care required. Normal feeding and watering is included in the cost of a regular visit.
Reviews
Our fur rake must've caught her eye, in its random drop-spot near the fridge countertop. She definitely combed up our fluffiest, which can always come up more, and neither LiLu nor Franklin had potty issues, which can happen when we don't report for their routine. Glad we found her here, and glad to add a visit in the late afternoon. It keeps them calmer!
Was very nervous leaving the pups but she made it very easy! They loved her! She was attentive to their needs and my concerns! Will definitely re-book!
I chose Susan to watch our dogs while we were gone one night because she had great reviews. I'm happy to say she lived up to the previous reviews and took great care of our pups! I really liked her detailed updates and pictures she sent me whenever she dropped in. Would definitely recommend!
Amazing as always!

Information Susan G. would like to know about your pet
I have a checklist of things to ask about. Allergies, potential medical issues (heart trouble, history of seizures etc) and specifics relating to your dog's breed (such as bulldogs and respiratory issues, need to clean face folds and so on.) I'll ask about your particular dog's quirks. Do they need to potty in a particular place each time? Are they aggressive with other dogs? Do they resource guard, are they toy-aggressive? Do they like to be brushed? Any history of handling issues? I like to be well-informed. I have no preferences for breeds, but big dogs are my favorite. I own a GSD/lab and have a real soft spot for that mix.
A typical day
There are a number of beautiful dog friendly walking trails in this area! You'll get to see pictures of your puppy in all kinds of new terrain. I use positive reinforcement techniques to teach new behaviors. If a dog isn't great at leashed walks, give me a week of regular walks with them! You'll see a huge improvement in their leash etiquette. I also bring enrichment toys with me on many visits. If your dog has a chewing habit or a lot of nervous energy, I have plenty of variations on the classic Kong toy to help them redirect. New tricks: this is my favorite one. Some dogs like border collies or Aussie shepherds just can't get tired out by a normal walk. The solution? Tire out their minds! I like to teach all my clients the usual Sit, Down, Stay, Roll Over, Shake Paw, Other Paw, Bark, Quiet. If your dog can already do all of that, we can work on some more tricky things like targeting and quiet vocalizations.
