Pampering for Non Shedding Dogs

Pet care experience

I love dogs and have owned 6, but sadly I am between dogs now. I currently volunteer at the Humane society taking care dogs and horses waiting for their forever homes. My goal is to help them become adoptable. I also volunteer with Fairfax County Pets on wheels. I have experience training and handling therapy dogs. Your dog will get loving attention, a large fenced, shady yard and lots of walks. Due to family allergies we can only accept non-shedding dogs. I have experience taking care of a large variety of dogs including older dogs and those with medical needs. Your pup is welcome to sleep in our bedroom, but not on our bed. Plenty of dog beds though out the house. Attention to your detailed instructions regarding feeding and schedule. Currently only doing outside meet and greet as well as drop off. Ask about discount for FPOW certified dogs. Pickup and Drop off fee for area- Additional charges may apply for locations more than 15 minutes away.

Susan was great! Lots and lots of pictures and videos. She paid close attention to him. He looked happy the whole time.

Susan always takes great care of our pup. I know this because he’s always excited to see her again and always tired when he gets home! (And misses the new friends he makes there!) Thank you, Susan!

Wallace loves going to see Susan! There are not many people we feel comfortable leaving our pup with, and Susan is at the top of that short list. We’re very grateful for the all the loving care she gives him!

Milo loved his weekend stay! His first trip away from home and Susan got him stress - free right away. He was whining to go back when we were pulling away from picking him up. That’s a doggie ring of endorsement!

Safety, trust & environment

We have a yard with a 5 foot fence. While there are dogs in the house we use the garage as an airlock to avoid dogs excaping through the front door. You will be consulted if there will be another dog overlapping with your dog. I always consider size, energy and personalities before overlapping dogs.

Information Susan D. would like to know about your pet

Non Shedding Dogs only due to family allergies. House broken dogs only please. Will follow your schedule and routines, so share with me what you usually do Walking and feeding schedules should be maintained. Let me know any food issues your dog might have. Make sure flea and tick prevention is up to date.

A typical day

My husband and I are retired so we have lots of time to pamper your dog who will have company most of the time. W&OD trail close by. Lots of long walks. Shady fenced yard for ball play or chasing squirrels. Happy to continue any training routines you have. We have assorted dog toys, but feel free to bring your dogs favorite ones. Please bring a harness for your dog, preferably one that attaches in the front if your dog pulls at all. Absolutely NO prong collars Your dog will sleep in a very large crate next to my bed. This way they know I am there but I won't accidentally step on them if I get up during the night. It also allows me to get a good night sleep when I am not listening all night to hear if your dog is getting into something. I will put your dog's bed into the crate. Most small dogs that are not used to a crate but always sleep in their dog beds have no problem with this. Larger dogs must be crate trained. If you have a different routine for your dog at night I would be happy to discuss at a meet and greet.
