Puppy Love

Pet care experience

I just recently graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor of Animal Sciences and a concentration in behavior/well-being. I volunteered at the San Diego Humane Society for about 6 months when I first moved here and I was also an interpretive volunteer for the San Diego Zoo for 2 yrs. I am currently a supervisor at a doggy daycare, boarding, and grooming facility. I have administered medication, I am cpr trained, and I have dealt with emergency situations with a calm and level head. I have owned many types of animals growing up and I have a lot of educational and professional experience with handling different species. What can I say? I LOVE animals! Any shape, size, color, or breed. I am comfortable with anything really!

Susan did a wonderful job with Miranda(my cat), was very flexible and accommodating, gave regular updates on her well being and status. I highly recommend!

We have a rescue dog who was abused prior to our adopting him. We love him so much and are sensitive to his issues, so we had never used a dog sitter before. We were super nervous, but Susan was just perfect. She is very experienced, has knowledge and awareness of the various temperaments of dogs and truly loves dogs. Her sensitivity and compassion made this go as perfectly as we had hoped. She sent photos, spent ample time at our place with him, and even gave him a new toy! When we returned, our dog was happy to see us, but we could tell that he was loved in our absence. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter! She is excellent! We will be calling her again for sure!

Susan is fantastic with our greyhound, Monkey (and Monkey loves her)! She sends us photos and keeps in touch with us so that we don't have to worry about Monkey when we are away. We highly recommend using her!

Highly recommend Susan!! I've recently rescued my dog, a chihuahua-terrier mix, and he's got some issues with separation anxiety and anxiety in general. I went vacationing on the east coast for 6 days, and was nervous about leaving him home for that long for the first time, so I had Susan stay here. Susan was very patient and and good to him, and thoughtful helping him with his anxiety. She frequently stayed in touch, sent pictures, etc. Only downside is that he seems genuinely depressed now that she's gone! :( But yeah, great pet/house sitter!! :)

Information Susan B. would like to know about your pet

I like to know what the usual environment looks like so that I can attempt to mirror a similar one in order to reduce anxiety. The more information, the better. The more I know, the better I can take care of your animal.

A typical day

I will base activities on the temperament and energy level of your dog. If I am watching an older, more docile dog we will most likely spend a lot of time just hanging out and relaxing. If I'm watching a puppy or a high energy level dog we will most likely be tossing the ball a lot, taking frequent walks, and playing lots of engaging games. I will try my hardest to accommodate the same schedule that you provide so that I may ultimately ease the anxiety that he/she may have following your absence. I do however, hold a full time job so I would be gone up to 8 hrs at a time some days.
