I am a good listener, attentive and alert. I love to teach and witness them learn. Playing and mental stimulation is key as is proving positive re-enforcement. Dogs definitely respond to respect and love. I have never met a dog I didn't like. Each one is so unique and offers something to teach their humans. It amazing the positive effects dogs provide to the world on so many levels from companions, to workers, to healers they're the best. Each has their own needs that once recognized will bring them happiness and the rewards are endless. Nothing against cats but I will always be a dog person. Their role in history is well documented and important in our societies. Watching shows on their contributions of the various breeds is fascinating.
