Pet care experience
Dogs have been a part of my life for over 30 years now. They live with us as if they are part of the family. I simply love dogs (and cats too) and value any time spent with them. Along with my personal experience with dogs, my wife and I worked for a professional pet sitting company for two years. I'm in my 23rd year as a teacher (currently Creekside Park Junior High) and have been with Rover for over 5 years.

I'm a firm believer in walking my dogs at least 3 times a day (with one walk being at least 45 minutes long), brushing their teeth regularly, brushing their fur daily, and positive reinforcement rather than punishment. We make sure they are mentally stimulated by playing games (fetch in the swimming pool is a favorite) and practicing commands.
Information Stephen G. would like to know about your pet
If there are any special directions needed in taking care of your dog (medicine, exercise, food, etc), please let me know. Also knowing where the leashes are kept if I am walking your dog(s) helps me. I love all breeds, big or small.
A typical day
I like to walk around whatever neighborhood I'm in. With my dogs, we walk a mile in the morning, half a mile in the afternoon, and two miles in the evening. If my kids are with me, we stop by the park sometimes and the dogs love to sniff the field next to the park. At home we play fetch in the backyard, they practice commands (stay, heel, come), and use back rubs and toys to relax. Every dog is different and I would match their activity level the best I could. I've taken care of dogs that love to swim in the backyard pool. Other dogs are fine playing fetch with their toy in the house. Almost every dog loves a lot of petting and TLC which I give in spades.

Availability
Because I'm teaching during the school year, I am available on weekends, summer months, and some holidays and Friday evenings. If you are in need of a year-round petsitter, unfortunately, I am unable to meet that need.
