I’ve had three different dogs in the last nine years and a cat before that. Our first dog was a 14 month old shiba inu who was being rehomed and had no training or socialization. We taught her how to sit, stay, come, leave it, shake, fetch and worked hard on her socialization with other animals and people. She was always scared of people she didn’t know but with us there, she would follow commands. She became a great dog we had for nine years until she recently passed. Our second dog is a pit bull puppy who was two months old. We taught Zoey every command plus the normal puppy stuff of potty and kennel training and dealing with chewing. Zoey is now seven and loves all people and animals. Our recent new addition is a five year old American Eskimo dog we rescued a couple of months ago. We think she was a stray dog so she knows no commands and is scared of people. She will be a challenge but she’s a very sweet dog and it will be very rewarding once she adjusts. I have experience with cats, hamsters and fish as well. I run a hair salon with a very flexible schedule. I work some nights, some mornings and some weekends. My salon is right in Ankeny and I am able to leave during my lunch. I have a large fenced yard and a husband and sixteen year old son who equally love animals. With all three of us having very different schedules, someone is almost always home. I have two other dogs to keep your animal company or can keep it separate if preferred. We have all size crates available if preferred.
