All animals, ages, & people welcome

Pet care experience

I previously worked at a local nonprofit animal shelter for the past 3 years where I also fostered numerous animals; and am now pursuing opening my own cat and dog behavior consulting and training business. I take the responsibility of caring for a pet very seriously and am always honored to be able to do so. Before working at the shelter, I volunteered with them for one year walking dogs and quickly became the co-lead on my shift. Additionally, whilst I was in graduate school from 2013 through 2015 I pet sat and walked dogs. In less formal manners, I have pet sat for my friends and family since I was a teenager and am still called on by them to watch their new pets. I am as loyal to my Rover clients as I am to my friends and family, and can't wait to add many more furry friends to my life! In my many years of experience in this field, I have handled animals of all sizes, breeds and ages; animals with a wide range of aggression issues, animals with extreme medical issues - including the need to be medicated in a variety of ways (oral, topical, eye and ear drops, blood glucose readings and insulin injections in cats only, and administering subcutaneous fluids), and animals in extreme fear. I have had to resolve such issues as dog fights, dog-cat fights, dogs getting away on leash, and loose dogs approaching a dog I had on leash. There is not much I am unprepared for, or feel uncomfortable with. Additionally, I will always work as closely with you as possible to be sure that I know as much as possible about your pet and how I can provide the best care for them. Animals do best with patience, love and consistency and therefore my goal is to be as much like an extension of yourselves as possible! Please do no hesitate to reach out if you have any questions I may not have covered here, I am always happy to discuss animal matters :)

Stephanie was great with my cat, who unfortunately comes with gastro issues. She was understanding about last minute details while I was working things out with the vet, and had a great attitude about my little guy's accidents. I got updates and photos several times during my trip and she promptly responded to any questions I had. Highly recommend!

We sent Leia to Stephanie for a month when she was 6 months old.. She still was at a stage where she gets excited on every single thing and person.. Stephanie did an awesome job with her .. We did some playdates before the actual boarding since it was for a month.Leia had a great time with her and her dog Zoey.. She used to send us pictures regularly and kept us up to date with everything. Towards the end , Stephanie hurt her ankle and its amazing how she managed to give her good care in-spite of it..I would definitely send Leia again to her.

Stephanie did a great job taking care of my anxious 3 year old dog Dresden. I could tell by the daily pictures she sent that by the end of Dresden was feeling right at home. I would highly recommend booking with Stephanie for any pet sitting needs, and hope to have her watch Dresden again in the future!

For Boarding (both cats and dogs!) I live in a 750sq ft apartment in a garden style building on the fourth floor. I have a mid-sized covered patio as well and don't mind using it as a spot where your little one can go potty if they might have potty training or incontinence issues, or if they have any other reason they may need an extra convenient potty spot. In my apartment, I have baby gates to use as separators if needed. I also will utilize rooms to keep animals separated if needed (although I typically only host one client at a time in my home, I have my own two pets). I've fostered and pet sat many dogs and cats, both with my pets and without, and am very adept at pivoting needs depending on how everyone is doing and/or reacting to one another. There is a large green space around my apartment complex, as well as a few neighborhood parks within either a very short drive or a long walk. I live on a suburban street and can also take them for easy walks around the neighborhood. My own dog has struggled with dog reactivity on leash and so I do have skills in that department, as well as an intimate knowledge of when and where the dogs in my neighborhood will be out. Please feel free to ask me any questions about anything I might have missed! For Dog Daycare My own dog is selective about her friends, but adores playing with other dogs she does decide are worthy of her circle. If you have a dog you may want to do daycare with, please reach out and let me know and we can discuss logistics more specifically. In general, she does best with dogs her size or smaller (40lbs or less), and dogs who do not have an overwhelming play style (think running right up to a dog and immediately trying to play rather than a calm approach and sniff introduction). For Dog Walking I’ve been walking dogs of various ages, sizes, breed, and temperament for approximately 4 years now and 3 of those years were spent employed at a large nonprofit animal shelter. I find sincere joy in walking dogs and there are very few things that will make me uncomfortable. I especially am looking to help those clients with dogs whom they feel other walkers have not been able to handle. Dogs who may be especially fearful, dogs who bark at strangers/new people, dogs who bark at other dogs, dogs with handling sensitivities (such as not liking certain areas of them being touched, or having things put on them such as harnesses). I am working towards a certification in dog training and plan to open my own business providing training and behavior consultations and am therefore especially motivated and invested in taking thoughtful care of your dog. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! I have a wide service area but please bear in mind that my service area may change depending on how many other appointments I have and where they may be. Unfortunately traffic is a major factor in this line of work and I want to be able to adhere to my promises and remain punctual for my clients. I live in Renton right near the Landing and 405 so am decently central to many places, i.e. 15-20 min from Cap Hill, Columbia City/Rainier, Bellevue, Issaquah; 30min from south West Seattle/Burien and White Center, Redmond, Kirkland. Prior to moving to Renton a few years ago, I had lived in Seattle proper for 11 years. I am a native to the area and grew up in Sammamish, with my grandparents living in Woodinville, so I am highly knowledgeable and skilled at navigating many regions.

Information Stephanie R. would like to know about your pet

Depending on the service requested, I may want to know different information. For dogs who may be staying with me: how much do they weigh/how big are they? what is their age? are they altered? male or female? how do they typically play with other dogs? how do they typically react around strange dogs? how would you describe their play style with both people and other dogs? Have they been around cats before? If so, how did they behave? For all dogs clients I would want to know: Is the dog on any sort of medications or have any allergies? Do they have any specific phobias? Do they have any cues or commands you would like for me to know and adhere to (i.e. sit before getting dinner, or perhaps a sit before getting leashed up)? Do they have any aggression issues? This could be anything from barking at strangers to being "protective" to guarding their food or toys.

A typical day

I am open to a plethora of activities! I would want to find out from you what types of activities your animal likes best and if they have any favorite places to go or toys/games to play with. I have a large dog park near me (Cedar River) that has a nice long river side trail on it. I also have a few neighborhood parks very close by (Kennydale Lions, Sunset Neighborhood Park, and Highlands Park). I'm also very close to Cougar Mountain and am happy to take your pup on adventures in the forest as well.

Availability

I'm currently dog walking and pet sitting full time and therefore, will only be working around the scheduling of other appointments for pets. I will most often be able to be home with your pet, if they are staying with me, and the longest I would expect them to be alone, on rare occasions, would be 4-6 hours. More typically, they would only need to be alone for 1hr or less as the weekly errands I run are all within a short drive (on which they are more than welcome to join, as long as they do well in a car!).
