I have always been a dog person. I grew up with Danser, an Australian Shepherd, and watched her grow from a tiny puppy into an old dog. Of course, as a kid, I wasn't the primary person responsible for her, but I became an expert at throwing frisbees and balls, as well as playing tug-of-war. When she was younger, my mom and I would take her on long walks through the desert, where she would run free and chase after rabbits. As she (and I) got a bit older, I took on some of the responsibility of feeding her and sneaking her daily cocktail of pills into her food. As an adult, I most often care for my roommate's dog Kayla, a cutie Shepherd/Ridgeback mix. I take her outside or on a walk if I'm the first one home, give her lots of cuddles on a daily basis, and console her when my roommate leaves (she has some separation anxiety). I also care for her when my roommate is out of town. I have dog sit on several occasions, both staying at a client's home or just visiting in the mornings and evenings. I have cared for both young healthy dogs who love to go on long walks, as well as older dogs. I have experience giving pills (yum yum wrap them in food of course) as well as insulin shots. I am a grad student so I have a flexible schedule.
