In the 25 years we have been friends and neighbors, Stephanie has always had family dogs, She has had small dogs -- Cavalier King Charles Spaniels -- and large dogs -- mostly German Shepherds. They were indoor dogs, and, as a guest in her home, easy to be around. One of her German Shepherds was a two-year-old rescue named Lyra. At first, Lyra was afraid of everyone and every thing.
