I love both cats and dogs!
Pet care experience
I have two years experience helping my younger sister love on and train a Maltese-mix rescue dog, Bernie. He went from easy-to-aggravate to easy-going! He sometimes mistakes me for my sister due to cataracts in one eye. I earned his love with baths (he loves bathtime) and singing “walk” to the tune of “Work” by Rihanna - these used to be the only times he would wag his tail! He still lives with my sister, so I still get to excite him and annoy my sister with that song. I dogsat my aunt’s medium-sized dogs (a Terrier mix and a mini-Schnauzer mix) for two summers. I got up and had them walked before sunrise every morning, as their dark coats get hot easy in the sunshine. They were also rescue dogs but were already disciplined when I was dog-sitting. I raised two cats in my childhood. One was a tuxedo cat who was the smartest and most affectionate cat ever. He loved belly rubs and I taught him to sit, lay down, and push ajar doors open with his head instead of meowing for someone to open it wider for him. He passed away at 13. The other cat, Brutus, is a tabby mix who also got taught about pushing doors but that is all he cares to know. He still lives with my parents, but he still boops my nose every time I visit. He also loves to touch my forehead with his when I hum at certain reverberating notes. Currently, I have a tuxedo cat girl named Jellybean and a Russian blue cat girl named Pudding. Pudding is the newest addition to this household as of December 2021. Jellybean is still getting used to her and is afraid of her despite Pudding being half the size. I’ve been a Rover pet-sitter since November 2018.
Reviews
Stephanie is always kind and communicative. She shows all the love and attention she possibly can to our spoiled cat every time!
Stephanie was amazing with our cat, who was a bit skiddish at first. I gave her as much advice on how to win our picky boy over and she easily had him eating out of the palm of her hand. She took some of the best photos I've ever seen of him mid yell or licking his lips and just being cute in general. She was and continues to be very communicative in a timely manner, as well as being an extremely friendly and thoughtful person!
Stephanie was absolutely incredible! My cats Pepper and Sasha loved having her come over to check in on them this past week. She was super thorough during each visit, always making sure to provide ample pictures and important updates. She also went above and beyond, sweeping up the hallway and picking up broken planters (many thanks to our cats). Do not hesitate to hire Stephanie for your pet watching needs!
Stephanie took great care of our little blind dog while we were away!

Safety, trust & environment
I do not offer boarding (I live in an apartment with 2 cats). When it comes to visiting others’ homes and pets, I cross off essential to-dos right away! Dry/wet food feeding, litter box cleaning, water bowl change, and/or walks come first. Then it’s play time! My favorite photo to take of pets is when they are mid-licking their lips lol.
Information Stephanie L. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know of any medical issues, known aggression triggers (other animals, children, etc), fear triggers (other animals, children, loud noises, etc), and any personality quirks. I have no breed preferences whatsoever!
A typical day
I would walk the dog to the nearest grassy park to smell plants, and play whatever game he/she knows! Rover advises not interacting with other dogs, and I prefer to uphold that. Not everyone’s pandemic pooch has been trained the same! I am also very patient about letting doggos sniff and pee nearly wherever they please, but vigilant about watching what they sniff. Seeing other dog’s poop not cleaned up is a personal pet peeve and I carry extra dog bags for that in case the dog I walk is a little too curious.

Availability
I mainly work from home so anything within the Capitol Hill neighborhood is a piece of cake. I will fit in drop-ins before I start my work day, during my lunch hour, and/or after my work day.
