Pet care experience
I absolutely love dogs - I mean, they really are "man's best friend", right? To help you to understand: not only have I worked for veterinary clinics and wildlife rehabilitation centers in my past, but I have also been a dog trainer for 5+ years. I will also soon receive my MSc degree from WVU in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources, so if you have a family with fur, scales, or feathers - bring them all. I live for animals, and I truly love my canines. I have owned anywhere from 1-5 dogs at a time for my entire life. I have trained and socialized over 15 dogs and fostered 5 of them into loving homes. I am very trustworthy, and am often asked by family, friends, and neighbors to day sit, board, or stay in-house with their furry children. I also enjoy bringing my best friend, Caille ("Kai"; German shorthaired pointer), along with me! (If that's okay with you, of course!) While caring for your pet, I will gladly offer training and socialization, if requested. I can also provide necessary medical care if your dog is sick/hurt or on a daily medication regimen. As always, I promise to provide the exceptional care that you expect and the loving companionship that your pet deserves while you are away. After all, your pet deserves the absolute best, right?
Reviews
Stephanie is great! She got back to us right away and took very good care of our three German Shepherds. I highly recommend her.
Very happy! Berkley looked happy got some exercise while I was at work and I loved that she sent me pictures of how happy he was
Stephanie was an awesome sitter! I loved seeing pictures of my dog and knowing he was so happy while I was away. I will definitely use her again.
Stephanie was great with Berklee! She sent pictures throughout his stay. They went to the dog park, he had the opportunity to play with the other dogs that stayed with her for the weekend, and she even trained him a little! Stephanie was great and I would definitely recommend her!

Information Stephanie L. would like to know about your pet
If your dog is not socialized or friendly with other dogs, then we will need to introduce ourselves a couple of times before our first adventure together (that includes day sitting and taking walks). Dogs can be shy and get scared easily - I understand that - and I want to be sure that we can work out all of those anxious kinks before we begin our adventures together. If that requires a bit of socialization, then that can be included in their stay. Therefore, I have no breed preferences - I don't believe in that. Yes, genetics play a role in the development of social behaviors in your pet. But through proper training and socialization, those behaviors CAN be broken - I've seen it, and I've done it. Please keep in mind: Dogs don't WANT to be aggressive or fight. They are TAUGHT to be that way or to play that role. Dogs are pack animals - they are loyal, loving, and only want to make their pack leader happy. All behaviors, at any age, are reversible.
A typical day
I love to hike, especially when I am accompanied by my furry friends. I often walk all around my neighborhood and down to Decker's Creek trail. I take Caille to the dog park multiple times a week. We love to go swimming at Cheat Lake, occasionally kayaking while out there too. I even bike with Caille sometimes. If you have a highly energetic dog - then Caille and I are the perfect highly energetic companions for your pup! I will even give them a nice bath after if we get a little dirty while out playing. You tell me what your dog loves, and I will stay within your specified limits while providing the fun exercise that your dog requires.
